How does the enemies level scale in FO4?
Hi,

I was wondering how the enemies scaling works... I am leveling a character and i plan to get him to really high levels (200+). Now, I wonder if once you visit a location for the first time, the enemies level is gotta be fixed at the level you encountered them the first time.

I mean, If I visit a location at level 10, and then come back when I will be 200, will I still find level 10 enemies?

I am asking that 'cause I'd really like to find worthy opponents when I'll be 200+, and not low-level enemies.

I am not 100% how it works but when I go back to certain places in the game the enemys are still as weak as they was the first time I saw them, Corvega and concord for example, however I do think some enemys scale.

But there are mods to fix this if you are fine with using them.

It's kind of a mixed bag with enemies. Some scale, some don't. Some have an absolute level cap, some don't. If you go up to level 200, you will encounter some enemies that are scaled right up to your level, but also a lot of others that are not fully scaled.

But you don't necessarily want a lot of enemies to scale, because your own performance in battle isn't directly based on your level. Once you've got your favourite gear and perks sorted out, your other levels will be spent on things that don't make you more combat-effective overall (beyond having more hit points), while with all those extra levels, the fully-scaled enemies will definitely be tougher. It doesn't really make fights against them more challenging, they just take longer.

As others have said, it's a bit of a mixed bag, some enemies are one shot, some are total bullet sponges.

They do not level well. The game is set with 'Band's of level ranges that increase the more southe and west you go. Once you reach the mid 50's and 60's you will never see another Skull next to an enemy name ever again.

I think theres MODs for that but Ive not explored them.
