What a load of BS?
google "fallout 4 ultrawide"
... and the first answer is -
Truby Ultrawide
Now wasn't that difficult.
DH
That is why im asking now if there are any mods or an up-to-date method of doing this.
As Nicky the Hutt quite rightly says google info is out of DATE!
Also when starting the game after setting both ini files, do I need to change the settings in the game start up IU or just press play?
Thanks
No just press play, see what happens, I dont have that res still on 1920 but just go with what the guy recommends
I gamed at that resolution and even tried 3840x1600 for years and finally just said ♥♥♥♥ it and dropped back down to 2560x1440.. It's great at first but yeah.... I'm happier at 2560x1440.
PS the app I mentioned has settings for tons of games, not just Fallout 4
Most games today (let alone old) were not built for UW abbey normals.
Simply not true. Most games today can handle more resolutions including 3440x1440. Bethesda, however, is ♥♥♥♥ at that resolution. Always has been, likely because they've really just been using the same engine for decades with updates. I'm hoping with their next gen engine they'll stop having the issue.
This mod has served me extremely well so far, also allows you to scale your UI. Flawless Widescreen doesn't work for me at all.
Anyway... here's what seemed to work for me. edit your Fallout4Prefs.ini in the Display section then make that file read-only. yes everyone and where says never do that well kinda gotta do it or FO4 overwrites it. this forces FO4 to run windowed always on top (sorry no alt tabbing)
Also in Fallout4.ini in the Interface section this seemed to help any stretching and keeping me from clicking 'offscreen'
If it works dunno this game fought me even under beth's fingers, still does today it seems. was hoping the VR version maybe addressed this stuff but sadly its forced hand controls...
Which is why many of the Steam forums for the games I play, have some kind of "why doesn't this game do UWt? It's 2021/2/3, everyone I know uses UW, it's the fastest growing format, etc, lazy devs!" thread.
Or, they haven't put out a new game during a time when UW actually had some traction. It's niche now, it would have been super niche in 2015.
Yeah, we'll see what the FO4 update & Starfield can do. They also need to figure out the 60fps thing, since you can't get a monitor below 144hz any more.
