that zeta radiation or whatever, how long does it last and if I were to wear a hazmat suit to avoid rads would the intelligence boost still apply?

Its radiation. It works like all other forms of radiation. Having rad protection will have no impact on the intelligence boost. You could also just take the radiation, then cleanse is as normal by visiting a doctor or using rad-away.

.... The hubologists are just zapping you and taking your money exactly like the certain "church" they are a parody of. The effects last only a couple in-game days, and I am pretty sure that you'll just need to use rad scrubbing items to remove the massive doses as it's a scripted event not actual weapon / environment damage.

so removing the rads doesn't "wash off" the effect? that intelligence boost could really come in handy with leveling

That bonus is also temporary. It only lasts about a real hour or so (1 or 2 in-game days). And the cost keeps going up each time. You will get some use out of it, of course. Just not a lasting one. Especially as because once you hit the highest one (AHS-8), you can't do it again.

For the most part, the scans are just a big scam.

The rads will need to go any way you look at it. The int boost vanishes by itself. Along with your caps.

The biggest benefit you might get would be to pick up the Intelligence boost before completing a major quest or two to reap the most XP gain from it, but I don't personally feel it's worth it.

The benefits expire literally in an hour playing. There's no benefit. That's the gag.

Dood it's not meant as a benefit, the entire thing is a joke about Scientology.

Yes.
I was sitting through all sessions back to back with the Captain Cosmos spacesuit (750 rad resistance) and never got more than 1 rad, and only a tiny red bar.

At the end I had INT boosted to 35 or 36.
I didn't bother to check how long it lasted though.

From the link it is clear that it was well articulated in Fallout 2 and how confused and unintuitive in F4. That it is a parody of Scientology, it is understood only by the name for the rest it seems the exact copy of "Come Fly With Me" in the Repcon Test Site with the Brotherhood of Bright.

Unless you have ever read anything about, say, Scientiology. Or ever heard the name L Ron HUBBARD. The... creator of the fictional religion that got out of control rather rapidly and behaves exactly as stated in the F4 dlc.
