Fallout 4 Audio wont play in headphones

I have been playing it and when I use my headphones the sound wont play what so ever but will play on my speakers but the sound does play for the title SPECIAL video when I start up the game but after that I wont play anything at all

I use blutooth headphones, but when the batteries died my wired headphones didn't work either.
The problem with blutooth headphone is that if I shut them off or let them run until the headphone's battery dies, with the game still running, the game freezes.

This is not a "game" issue, this is a "YOUR computer and Headphones" issue ..
There is no settings IN the game to select audio output, that is all on your computer, either in your audio device, or a windows setting.

set your headphones to stereo. I know, it sounds outdated, archaic & dumb. it's a bandaided engine for sure, don't expect any better outta sweeny's offerings these days though.

This happened to me too. I went into windows update, advanced options, optional updates, and updated my computer's firmware through there. Sound issue resolved now.

Well until the game crashed and now the sound is back to not working in the game but still working on the title special video. NVM I guess

I had a similar problem. No changing of any windows settings for audio worked. What DID work was deleting ALL the .ini files in the FO4 directory and then have steam do a file check to re-download them. Restated the game and reset the graphics settings ect.. and all is good again. Also, for crashing problems, I had to back off my settings from Ultra to High. No more crashing! Hope this helps!

Did you take your headphones out of usb port? sometimes that causes issues.

all i did was restart the game and it works fine now. when i plugged in my headphones while playing it wouldn't work. so now i know to plug in my headphones before starting the game
