power armour vs appleseed landmates
i do wonder how much protection would give if they were against eachother not necessarily one wearing power armour vs one wearing landmate it's more like both of them wearing their respective armour are allies in a civil unrest situation and the people are armed

the landmate from apple seem fairly agile compared to the power armour with respectable protection from traditional armourment and you can jump pretty well in the landmate almost like you can without one but visually looking out could lead to some trouble

the power armour feels slow and abit clunky but powerful against traditional armourments and fairs pretty well against laser weapons it also gives radiation protection which is a great plus but after 200 years of neglect it seems some radiation leaks into the armour i am sure if it were kept in top shape no radiation could leak in

I would generally say the landmate is significantly more powerful and mobile, but it's also a more carefully-tailored piece of technology that relies on regular maintenance to be effective. It's more like a small, armed vehicle than a suit.

The power armour has lower performance, but it's much more robust in terms of maintenance, remaining functional even after being abandoned for a couple of hundred years, and relatively easy to repair.

In any sort of immediate clash or with a stable society providing technical support the landmate will do better, while if you're living in a post-apocalyptic wasteland it will soon end up non-functional. Meanwhile, the power armour will still be doing as well as ever, being patched up by wasteland mechanics to keep going year after year.

sounds interresting and i could see the landmates need more maintenance as it seems to me more advanced in the mobility section compared to the power armour

so if there's people who is more armed and armoured they would send in people who wears the power armour as in military who is more likely would use the power armour in case their weaponry can easily take on the landmates? i would believe so and the military would also likely use more heavy weaponry to disperce the group by force

so with the society possibly collapsing with the unrest would you give the landmates a few years of no maintenance before they cease function? i might give it 5 years if that while i can see the power armour is more easy to repair with the scrap at hand which could be made to fit alright on the power armour by 3 people who knows their stuff
with the landmates i can see it would need a crew of 5 people who is educated on landmates mechanical wonder like yoshi (if that's how his name is written which i hope)
as he seem to understand how it works and what todo to fix it properly

Landmates are a excuse for lazy animators to just move things around on the screen cuz walking animations are hard to do.
Prove me wrong.

Appleseed started as a manga just like its more famous younger sibling GITS it had no animation. plus Landmates have normal bipedal legs unlike say GITS's Fucikoma's they are meant to walk just like a normal person.

Landmates exist because Japan like all sane people of the world find robot suits badass.

How did we reach a point where the word filter even censors "Fuchikoma"?

well I dont speak Japanese maybe maybe its a slur over there or maybe they just dont like adorable robotic spider tanks?

Also Appleseed is post apocalyptic outside Olympus and a few countries most of the earth is a fallout style wastland. though I supose the main due is suprised and impressed with landmates after they get rescued so they likely arent something you'd see in the wasteland unless a intact country is running an op

Eh, I guess it probably just thinks it's a mask or substitute for a certain four-letter word that starts with the same three letters.

That'll suck if anyone has a GITS game on Steam. :steammocking:

if i wanted to bypass the filter on ♥♥♥♥ id mention a certian water fowel or heavy vheical or maybe the sound a chicken makes Fuchikoma sounds a lot diffrent even Fuchi on its own doesnt really sound like ♥♥♥♥ but i guess steams word fillter is a massive fluster cluck so whatever.

edit well fluster cluck not being covered proves the point pretty well

i could imagine landmates are likely also used as a contruction landmate but it has to be a different model to the police model for heavy lifting and wielding when a place needs wielding and it is just out of reach

Couldn't you use a ladder instead of a landmate? :steammocking:

yeah i could use a ladder then someone else need to hold the ladder for safety reasons or i would need anything else if it is outside of said building i'm constructing with my crew so maybe a landmate could be the best answer? under certain situations sure
i know if it is with construction landmates needs to be built alike with attachable tools which is powered by the landmate or powered by something else

yep robots are cool and maybe you would just use a drone to wield stuff but using a landmate to wield you could also get a closeup view of how well the wield is
