Wire Glitch "Glitch"
I've used the wire glitch hundreds of times before without an issue. But on my current playthrough it suddenly won't connect. The wire sparks when selected, passes through the wall, snaps to the object I want to power, but won't actually connect when I hit the attach wire prompt.
I first noticed it when trying to power an elevator in Vault 88 and so tried going back to my settlements. No joy in Mudville there either.
But, I did discover that the plain vanilla conduit did work, even in Vault 88. The rug glitch and sign glitch aren't working either.
On the off chance that it's just an "undocumented feature" in my new palythrough, I tried pulling up a very old save from a game where I'd used it before and, lo-and-behold, the wires that I'd successfully run through walls in the past were completely missing and nothing was powered on.
Did the glitch get patched in an update at some point during the last year since I last played this?

No patches to the game in years. You using any mods?

Yeah, I know he is. But other mods might conflict with that glitch. But I am not sure. Never used any mods. And the glitch still works for me.

No mods. I've watched the vids (sign and rug glitches). Not the issue I'm referring to, even though they aren't working either. The simple glitch is to just grab the wire and drag it through a wall.
Conduits do the same thing, Just takes a little more effort.
Maybe I need to reinstall the game. Been getting other oddball stuff happening on this playthrough that I've never experienced before, although the files verify okay.

I just place a connector next to the last powered object, connect it, then move the connector to where ever. Trying to get wires to pass through objects and stuff just seems like too much work compared to just moving the connector.

The rug glitch was like patched out in 2017 roflmao.

As of the last patch for the game, the rug glitch still works. As does the pillar and wifi glitch. Never tried the sign glitch. I started playing the game in 2020.

Always with the arguing and contradicting...

The rug glitch to stick under objects to store them stopped working with that patch. For example sticking a rug under the Abernathy beds then storing the rug would store the beds. Try reading the actual patch notes sometime.

Placing an object on a rug then using the rug to clip into the wall to be closer is not a glitch.

This thread is about passing wires through walls to make an interior connector powered, not storing items in the workbench.
Just sticking a connector onto a wall and having it powered only works in Vault 88 because power is conducted through the floor pieces.
In a settlement you need to get a wire through the wall to power any connectors on the inside. That can only be done either using the wire glitches or conduits for items that require direct power (e.g. Vault 88 drink stand).
Lights, radios, juke boxes, etc. use wifi power and will operate so long as they are in range of an exterior connector, but you can't attach a wire to those items to use to power something else inside.

Place the jukebox outside.
Connect the wires.
Move the jukebox inside.

Why is someone who cannot wire an object explaining to others how and why to power objects like we are new players?

I been doing this for almost seven years now and I have NEVER heard of a wire glitch before this topic. Thousands of hours played and NEVER had an issue powering anything.

I have never used the rug glitch to store a item. Can not think of any reason why I would. As far as it not being a glitch, using a rug to make items clip in to other objects, is not normal. :P. You can use the fast travel mat to clip behind objects. That is a glitch.

And get that chip off your shoulder. lol.

Using a rug to get objects to clip is the standard use of the rug glitch widely employed for settlement building. I can't speak for anyone using mods, but the rug, pillar, and wire glitch all still work in their most commonly-used form in the unmodded game.

In regard to removing beds, the main thing I'm aware of them changing was that they stopped you from moving the beds onto something you could use to store them. I use a selection glitch to grab them now, but they still store away just as easily once you've gotten them onto the piece of floor panel or whatever you prefer.

How have you never heard of the wire glitch before now? I could understand for the more advanced wire glitch (where it doesn't leave a visible wire), but the ordinary one has been old news for ages.

Hmm, though come to think of it, you use mods routinely don't you? If that includes some of the ones for easy object placement, that might explain you not being as familiar with some of the common building tricks.

It's not technically just about rugs (I usually use wooden floor panels), but it can remove a couple of annoying settlement objects like the Abernathy Farm beds that the developers didn't want you to remove.

The trouble is that in one of the patches they decided to lock down those same objects so that you could no longer drag them onto flooring and get rid of them. I now have to use a selection glitch I stumbled across to grab them, but the removal part of it still works exactly the same way as before.

I see. I use the console to get rid of them.

I think anything you do in the game, when concerning specifically designed to be done in a certain way, is a glitch. Like the glitch to put two legendary mods on a weapon.

A glitch is typically unintended by the developers; a way to take advantage of some unexpected flaw in the game mechanics. I couldn't say that it's unintended for sure with dual legendary mods, assuming we're talking about the case with Kremvh's tooth, where it's an additional effect attached to a mod part rather than the base item.

No, I am not talking about Kremvh's Tooth. That is a unique machete. I do not consider it a glitch. It really is not that great when you can get the Throat Slicer in NW. Which is far better.

But there is a glitch players can use to put two legendary effects on one weapon. I have not did it or will. But I have watched videos of it being done.
