So it def does improve there armour rating? not for show?
Helmets can have good stats to. How much of saver is it to use helmets being
shot there? So helmets in other Fallout games was for look?
I always want to deflect more bullets. You can never deflect too many bullets. Plus I don't always want to wear power armor. Because you have to repair it. Which is a big pain. So a helmet plus a good chest piece is a great addition.
That Marine Helm rocks with the Minutemen General outfit. With my current gear, it's kind of oversize to be worn with tier 1 leather armor. Even after dishing out a small fortune to get it, we're currently on a mission to loot a Hunter's Outfit and Hood at FH.
That's going to change the difficulty, if I run around in just that.
No more +6 Agility ...
....Chameleon effect
....+10% movement speed
... muffled movement
...Shadowed armor
...Stabilized x2 ( Noooooo! )
...+50% Chem duration
Fun times ahead!
IF I like it. If not..... Then it's Marine Helm and MM Gen suit.
EDIT:
...maybe.
That's what I wear like 97% of the game. Minutemen General uniform. Pretty good armor. Plus a military helmet. It offers some of the best overall protection outside of Power Armor. Which I hate to repair. Getting in and out of it too. Going through Fusion Cores. Just everything is a pain. Sometimes it helps you. Mostly I go without it and prefer to be without it.
edit: like this for example.

Patrolman Glasses
Military Cap
Medium Combat Leg Armor
Medium Combat Arm Armor
Heavy Combat Chest Armor
all painted in blue with 111 as Faction decal (yes i use a mod just for that)
why? because Piper kept telling me blue despite being in full military painted armor... also its a nice color.
its always funny to see conversation like the first meeting with danse were he asks were you are from and it should be so obvious... i mean... vault suit with a 111, blue armor with a 111... that Number and color must have a meaning, eh?
I started out with the army helmet from the APC west of Sanctuary.
Then upgraded to a combat helmet some time later, when I encountered the first Gunner.
After Covenant, I have only been using the Destroyer's Helmet.
Also, I'm using a mod that still shows my character's hair sticking out from under the helmet.
The default completely removes any hair, making her look like a bald head.
Also, I'm using another mod to utilize the headlamp on the helmets, instead of the Pip-Boy light.
Is it worth upgrading helmets? Marine armour is better.
What helmets gives best defence from Lazer plasmas and top damage bullets?
Courser uniform
Damage Resistance 30 Energy Resistance 15 Rad Resistance 15
Minutemen General uniform
Damage Resistance 45 Energy Resistance of 80
The best is
Layered Ballistic Weave Armor 220 physical and 220 energy
Yes put the best damage resistance helmet you have on. Look at the DR stats. Whatever is the best. I don't have ballistic weave yet at my stage of the game but I will get it eventually.
