Esc button not working (fixed)

whenever i try to open the esc tab it doesnt work at all. i've tried to restart my computer, steam, and the game but it doesn't work. my esc button works fine on other games, just not fallout 4. anyone know how to fix it?

EDIT: turns out my keyboard only stopped working on that button. sorry yall lol

Have you ever tryt to set your own buton mapping? F4 doesnt like that. Reset the controls back to default and you ahould be good togo.

i had the exact same problem a while ago. My fix was easy, uncheck your controllers in settings.

ive tried disconnecting controllers too and it doesnt fix it either sadly. plus i only use keyboard and mouse so there wouldnt even be a controller for it to connect to :/

There is also an INI file adjustment you can try, just to make sure that there's no input attempting to be found.

just tried this, didnt work either. ugh my head is going to explode

Mine will stop responding after using the steam overly. It's not noticeable when i return to the game screen, but then it refuses to escape. Pressing the overlay again fixes it, till i use overlay again.

Could it be the Pause button in the controls?
Had the same issue, it appears I had changed it to P.
