scrap everything alternative
i really love that mod and i cant live without it which unfortunately is also my kryptonite because my saves are reliant on that mod. ive always had problems when it came to south Boston which is quite laggy but my god scrap everything makes that place notoriously laggy which is weird because i use scrap everything for my settlements and i dont scrap anything in the city but that has to do with precombines which is a whole other story and i assume scrap everything really hit precombines hard.

so i want an alternative to it. something that would help me scrap those annoying bushes, dirts and vines and maybe some of those Sanctuary houses. something similar to SE but not to the same extend as SE. the thing i hate about SE is you can scrap quite a lot of things (as the name applies duuhh) that i dont want to scrap.

help me out plz.

um, place everywhere i guess

Place Everywhere (REQ: F4SE)
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9424

it doesn't let you scrap everything like SE but it works better with mods like previsibines and such. it doesn't fight to be at the bottom of the load order.

to scrap or move un-movable objects, for example, you press the INSERT key on your keyboard to enable like god mode of moving things. then you can usually move or scrap whatever. but PE has limits, it won't scrap everything like SE will.

for things that you want to scrap, even without a mod, you can use the console. just open the console then click on what you want to kill and type:

disable markfordelete

and the reason things get laggy is because when you use scrap everything, it has to go through and break all these precombines in order to be able to let you scrap those things individually. so now you enter a scene, before you were having to render / process 100 objects, now with broken combines it's gotta render 1,000 objects and that's how you notice the difference. you can see it in your framerates

wait so place everywhere also has a scrap mechanic? i wanted that mod to move power armours considering ive got like 30 of them. hmm. is it current save files friendly???
i'm using Place everywhere since years and it's a very powerful building tool. would never play without it. and it's very file friendly and also it don't damage your save

yea you should be able to plug that one right in to the game and have it start working. and i never thought to move power armor with it but it would probably work.

and yes PE has a scrap mechanic but it's limited compared to SE. main-stays at each settlement can't be scrapped with PE, like the projector tower at starlight drive-in or the houses at sunshine tidings co-op. stuff like that is permanent.

but there's this computer desk in sanctuary that you can't even scrap with SE, but pressing INS key with place everywhere will let you pick it up and move it around. you can't scrap it but you can move it out of the way. :)

I use SE a lot. I suspect that it isn't the major cause of the poor performance. Contributor, yes. But I have tested areas like Sanctuary and South Boston using my mod list with SE enabled and disabled and there is no observable difference. Same fps with SE enabled and disabled.

In theory this turns precombines and preculling ini's on and off. The on setting should see a performance improvement if SE is responsible- at least in South Boston.

However I have mods that probably alter SB like SS2C2 so that conclusion is unsure.

You might want to try No More Disappearing Act on the AFKmods suite. Mentioned here -
forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/5522717-fallout-4-optimization-and-performance-systems-explained/

AFK location -
https://www.afkmods.com/index.php?/files/file/2431-no-more-disappearing-act-no-more-lod-flicker/&tab=comments#replies

The nexus description by fortunequacker is here -
https://web.archive.org/web/20201112030302/https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13294/

Again I have tried this mod w/o noticing a difference. It may predate SE Ultimate so that could be a factor. But I think it is a mod list problem. Too heavy for my cpu.

The only solution is to throw more cpu at it. I have faster pc's than what I use for FO4 so I'll try one of them to see if there is a difference.

edit - another issue is load order precedence. Some mod types take highest priority over others regardless of the load order. It's more complex than just "esl's are treated as loose files" etc.

Power armour frames.....hahahaha They're like weeds!

I don't think there is any of us who haven't been there.

The reason your frame rate climbs when you scrap these items outside of settlements is because the same items are meant for scrapping inside the settlement are not intended to be scrapped outside the settlements.

Put simply the game has to do extra work that it was never intended to do.

umm. im having a strange issue. so place everywhere works fine but after disabling scrap everything it also stops PA from working. idk why this happens. what did i do wrong

i dunno, remind me, are you using a mod manager?

and what do you mean by not working, is place everywhere being disabled and not loading or is it just not scrapping in the game?

im using mo2. when i first installed it i could move houses and their bases but as soon as i disabled scrap everything i couldn't do those things. its as if scrap everything is a requirement for this mod to work.

i dunno it sounds weird. but you're not supposed to disable mods mid-play anyway. did you start a new game? scrap everything is like the hardest mod to get rid of i swear. i had to do an uninstall / reinstall to be rid of it.
