All different ways for someone to try to survive in the wasteland.

Funnily enough, one of the potential endings for Fallout 1 was getting dipped in FEV to become a super mutant, though obviously that's not what they went for as canon.

Each race should also have default SPECIAL stats that you couldn't change, when creating the character.
♥♥♥♥ like crazy strength for the super mutants but close to zero charisma etc.
You'd have to raise the stats while playing the game, then (with perks, quests etc).
I'm quite the opposite; I love to play all sorts of different characters, especially all the weird and wonderful different choices of the Elder Scrolls.
Though in Fallout, most of the races are essentially humans anyway.
