If you don't like a mod, don't use it. Pretty simple.

Fallout 2 really leaned into state of the art modern weaponry. Fallout 1 used a lot more generic "lore-friendly" gear. Fallout 2 was kind of interesting since they knew the game was taking place in the relatively near-future so they looked at a lot of prototypical weaponry at the time. That's why there's a lot of failed weapon systems in Fallout 2 like the XL70E3 and the Pancor Jackhammer. I suppose people with modern weapon mods are following the spirit of Fallout 2 and people without them are following the spirit of Fallout 1/3.

It's people who mod living grass and forests back in that bother me. "Hey! There's too much fallout in my Fallout game!"

+ Good Fallout game.

- Too much Fallout. -IGN

That's something I'll never understand. But everyone can do whatever they like.
Fallout 2 had some modern weapons like the p90 and such, but it was always altered or grounded in the fallout universe. For example the p90 shot 10mm and had 24 round mags.

I think what OP is talking about is the super modern guns with picatinny rails and acogs on everything and pink camo. I myself think fallout 2 is the best of the franchise and I really don't like the super modernized stuff. I have nothing against having guns like the p90 in the game, but it should be presented like it is in the fallout universe and not from our universe.

This is just my opinion, modders can do whatever they want. But I still believe that making modern weapons lore friendly is possible with just a bit of effort.
that is what i mean't

by "tacticool", do you mean the mobile multiplayer game "tacticool"?
that would baffle me if there really is a lot of mods imitating that game. . .except that it seems that multiplayer battle royale games seem to be the most popular games these days for some reason.

I myself haven't noticed this, but the nexus has literally 4302 weapon mods.
a lot of the mods do seem to be based on modern weaponry, which makes sense since this game has guns in it, of course, people will mod in more realistic looking guns and what's more realistic than guns that actually exist today?
That and titties of course.

It takes a lot more effort and creativity to create a new lore friendly weapon rather than just recreating an existing modern gun. Don’t get me wrong, I love vanilla friendly stuff.

Fallout 1 and 2 makes the weapons lore friendly

the service rifle is from Fallout New Vegas thou
True but the Service rifle Mod has some pretty good modifications you can make to the rifle that makes it feel less like the vanilla NV one and slightly more modern like modern carbines or even light machine gun. While keeping some balance though it can get op.

The game is basically 'Call of Doody: Settlement Edition' anyway. Its more FPS than RPG.
