Vault 88 Recruitment Beacon No Power
Hi guys, once again I've got problems with Vault 88. I used Gopher's Vault 88 blueprint to create a settlement and it worked out great this time. Only now the recruitment beacon doesn't work. I've tried all the solutions suggested on here (at least the ones I've found I even altered the beacon to produce its own power in console, now it says it's producing power and requires power), and nothing works. I know it said to complete all the quests before you use the blueprint, but I didn't see that until it was too late. Now I've got 75+ hours of adventuring under my belt before I realized that, and it's far too late to go back now. Does anyone have any suggestions about this? Is there a mod that fixes this? I've even set up another beacon in the same room as the beacon in the vault but it's not attracting anyone even though I can hear it on the radio outside the vault.

So anyone have any ideas about what to do about this? Without the beacon working the quest is basically at a standstill. Maybe there's a way to skip through this and advance the quest, although I don't know how that'll work without settlers.

if it produces it's own power, you could try using one or two power connectors and put them in a triangle with the beacon as one of the angles.

i thought vault 88 had it's own beacon in the room with the power generator. there's a switch you can flip. built-in radio beacon.

Thanks guys, but I've tried that. I can't attach a wire to the beacon, it won't connect. The box has a green light on like it has power, but my character keeps saying, "This won't work without power." So I've got a perfectly usable vault without settlers. Arrragh!

You may have to use the console to disable the item the switch is on then attach the wire and then enable the item again.

Its been a while but I think I had to do this once a long time ago.

If nothing works, you can try "transferring" settlers from other settlements too. Build a beacon to an empty settlement and send newcomers to vault88.

you don't attach any wire to the built-in beacon. it gets power from the generator right there in the room automatically. the room where you had to kill the ghoul to get the part to get in to the big area. the nuke plant, the console of buttons ... there's a switch built in to the console on the left as you walk in, you flip that switch to get a beacon online. you don't have to build and wire any beacon in vault 88

and if you're trying to attach wires in the vault, there's a connector you can build, it only wants to attach to vault walls right in the middle, it has a prong you can connect a wire to. think of ti like this, power in a vault is transmitted through the walls. you make a connector on each end of a wall and it transmits power. you build the prongs to access that power

The beacon has a wire hidden inside the item it is connected to running down to a hidden connector that hooks it to the generator nearby based on what the OP said this has apparently gotten bugged some way or removed resulting in no power to the beacon messages.

That or the power generator itself has gotten bugged is no longer providing power.

i mean if the power isn't there, like if you scrapped the object using scrap everything, sure. :D

but i didn't realize that beacon switch was using a wire. i've never looked at the cell in xEdit or anything. always just assumed it was programmed to always be connected to that nuke plant beside it. :D

I found out when I accidently selected to move the beacon after I installed a mod that made it able to be scrapped or moved. Till I tried to move it and saw the wire I actually thought it was self powered.

a nice discovery. :D
yea i went scrap-happy awhile back and saw the guts of many a settlement.
but no more. i removed that mod and won't be scrap happy anymore.
