Fallout 4 crashing after Vortex use
Okay I installed vortex just to test it out and see what the whole deal with it was. I first installed Skyrim mods on it that I imported from NMM and it all worked pretty well with only a few hiccups here and there but overall it was pretty good. After learning the system for a bit I decided to put fallout 4 onto vortex for management (big mistake apparently). At first everything was imported with no issue but after deploying my mods it said that there were conflicts. I looked over the conflicts but found that many of the "conflicts" were mods that needed the mods that the vortex said they were coflicting with to be active in the game and never caused any in game problems either. An example of what I am talking about is the ACR-W17 main mod was "conflicting" with the ACR-W17 Crafting workbenches patch. After figuring out that there was no real conflict of any kind in game I started to see that a few mods that vortex mentioned nothing about were not actually in game and I started to expirence major stuttering and freezes that I did not get with the NMM. I have since uninstalled vortex from my computer and set NMM up to handle my mods. Skyrim works just fine and runs with no real issue but my fallout 4 does not. First when I tried to open the save game it gives me an infinte load screen at the title menu. I then deactivated all mods and tried to start a new game on vanilla but then crashes to desktop. I've tried everything from validation to unintalling but nothing works. I have even tried to run Fallout 4 from steam but it just crashes instantly. Any help on how to fix my Fallout 4 would be greatly appreciated.

makle sure you have removed everything fallout 4 related from your Harddrive - in some cases there are remainings left which could cause this crash
stop using crafting workbenches. it's outdated, crash prone, overall ♥♥♥♥♥. use Crafting Mastery[www.nexusmods.com] instead

Currently reinstaling everything now and hoping it works this time.

Thanks I'll make sure to remove it, but its still odd that it worked just fine in NMM with no issue until I switched managers.

Some mods require manual setting to get the load order correct using vortex.

I changed over to it just a few days ago and had to actually manually tell it what mods were required by other mods for example it automatically loaded manufacturing extended expanded before manufacturing extended requiring me to manually set a rule telling vortex that it required its master file (manufacturing extended) to load first.

Under NMM it seemed that it would simply look at the required master files and put it in the right place.

I suspect the mod causing the crash was most likely in the wrong load order or possibly missing some other needed files.

I thought that was the case as well but its also unlikely since I used Loot just to make sure of the load order after I went through it myself while using votex.

Managed to fix it finally. I took out all the files in the Fallout 4 main folder and had steam validate the files back. I can now run vanilla fallout 4, however I need to reinstall F4SE and the mods one at a time to be sure there is no other issue. Wished I could've found another way the do this though since I may as well delete my saves since they're more than likely corrupted.
This being said however I do think Vortex is a good manager but just needs more work out of from its Alpha.

You can use MO2, down load all your mods but install them one at a time in there and use loot to sort the right pane and you sort the left side to suit manually.
Also when loaded with mods MO2 will state which mods need F4SE prior to entering game.(if version of game runtime needs updating)

In case this helps anyone else, for me simple removing Crafting Workbenches as mentioned above solved my crashing problem.

I seem to be having crashing issues myself as well. I did transfer my mods from NMM to Vortex, but for some reason the game crashes instantly after loading.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, then removing and re-downloading the mods I had installed, but it's sadly the same issue.

I'm not sure if there's anything I'm missing or if there's a crucial step I've forgotten.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes you have to manually adjust the load order the video tutorials should help.

Also if you double click on a plugin or mod it will open information about it that may help in seeing if it needs to load after or before another mod.
