Can one obtain the Beryllium Agitator before they've met BOS/Institute?

Came out of Goodneighbour and I've completed this game story many times, so the thought of moving in on Mass Fusion early crossed my mind.

If I were to clear the enemies inside Mass Fusion without joining or having knowledge of faction plans for it, will I be able to find the Beryllium Agitator? I am acting as the survivor finding his own way as much as possible and am stumped on what faction I should join foremost to proceed with the story. So I took a break, doing side quests around good neighbour and I am curious about obtaining the agitator early. Can it possibly give me any leverage or be able to divert faction hostility? Or am I just killing enemies for XP until I realize my guy doesn't even know what he is looking for yet?

if i had to guess, you can't go get it early. im not sure tho, but considering that would take effort and bethesda doesn't like that...

Can't be gotten early really in regular play. Since essentially the the closed area in the basement is inaccessible until you chose a side and get up to the top of the building first via vertibird or teleportation.

No, you can't get it early. You can explore most of the building, Part of it would require a jet pack to get to (and will be abandoned if not on the appropriate quest) if you aren't doing the quest. And there is no way into the reactor area. Apparently, according to the wiki, if you do glitch yourself into that area it immediately starts the Mass Fusion quest.

Yeah, the area the agitator is in is locked until the quest.

Skipping ahead is bad for the Creation Engine scripting. In any of the games doing something out of order makes a complete mess of the scripting. Even Fallout 76 has a couple events the scripting can jump ahead a line or two and cause the quest to bug out.

Was a topic other day someone consoles themselves the wrong Jacob's password for Covenant and screwed their MacCreedy quest later.

Turned into practice, moved through the place clearing hostiles. Last try ended up where the game crashed as I moved along through the interior. One the first attempt I had some crazy bat with a missile launcher tube my legs when they were right in front of me. Second attempt the game froze loading into the place. Cursed. If it's locked, I'll stick to simple odd jobs for now...

Once upon a time ... it seems many lifetimes ago, I went into Mass Fusion just for the hell of it. Fought gunners on the way in, but oddly ended up fighting both BoS and Institute on the way out. They were fighting each other and me too. But I ended up walking out with the Agitator in my possession.
However, I must confess I cheated and CC'd the necessary ID card to use the correct elevator.
Upon exiting, I got the popup notice to give it to a certain named NPC of either the BoS or Institute and I had not even gone anywhere near either one of them prior to this. I had not even gone after Kellogg to trigger the arrival of the BoS air ship.
So, I thought to myself ... "Maybe I'll just hang onto this as a bargaining chip".

Sometime later (a few days) I decided that I probably screwed my game pretty royally by doing that, so I started a new game.
IF you did something similar to what I did, I'd recommend just starting a new game. But if you haven't gone there, I'd stay away from going after the Agitator until it's the right time to do so.

You can get really high into the Mass Fusion building (starting from the bottom), and there's even a prize for doing so (two leg pieces that nullify fall damage), but the very top portion of the building isn't accessible until that mission. It's called Mass Fusion Executive Apartment, I think? If you get a Vertibird, you can even clip through there.

no even if the place is fully looted it will be there this goes for other fetch quest too. it also does not reset the place unless there is supposed to be enemies specific to that fetch quest.

kellogs you can fully loot and kill the synths in the ground level and higher he has to open a specific door for you to get further not sure what would happen if you tcl'd through the door or something. also the bos airship and thus the bos in the commonwealth only starts when you leave through a curtain door. so you go back up and leave it will not trigger.
