But, plenty of ways without a mod. Don't use VATS. Make your companion mortal. Don't take rifleman, etc perks. Use only pipe weapons. Don't tweak your special stats. Or tweak them to be the opposite of what you need. Don't farm for experience, items. Don't use legendaries. etc.
Or move on to something new.
Also Feral Ghoul Outbreak, adds hordes of feral ghouls downtown. Manageable but a real shocker first few times and still dangerous late game.
Put both near top of the list so they dont over write anything and they work flawlessly.
Get a pip gun replacer. Some are excellent mods, again changing the entire game.
also try 'equilibrium weapons' to rebalance weapons vanilla damage.. also dont install any weapon non-vanilla mod.. they use to be OP
Here's the most hard mod of all for people who don't enjoy playing anymore.
