Stuck doing Old Guns.

So when I wasin the castle tryin to get in the armory, I got sort of lost. I have to gain access to this door (the one with general mcgann next to it) & I can't find a way to do it. I killed sarge & took whatever was on him. I can't access the terminal next to the door, it's just inaccesible. I did try & use console commands & unlocked it but it just controlled the door, which I unlocked, but that did nothing with the quest.

Yep it worked. Thank you! Ronnie didn't follow me into the basement/cellar.

This is an endemic "problem" in this game; you will encounter many doors which "inform" you that a certain key is needed, but that key can NEVER be found, because it is carried by an NPC, and you can't take it from its dead body, nor can you pick its pocket for it.
