"check your fire, weve got hostiles" gamebreaking glitch

HOW IS THIS GLITCH STILL IN THE GAME?
Fallout 4 is supposed to be a tripple-A game and it certainly has a tripple-A pricetag and yet here i am again with a glitch that bricks my 15 hour survival save by making it impossible to complete "fire support"
Ive cleared out the entire town, there isnt a single ghoul left and ive tried going away and coming back later... none of the fixes work...

Is there anyone who has actually managed to fix this glitch without scrapping their save entirely

which quest and where?
This could apply to many different locations and situations. Often it's a enemy (generic term) stuck somewhere or glitched into a wall or something.

is your game vanilla or modded?

Sounds like the brotherhood one, sometimes the ghouls will get caught in something

Oh, yeah, its fire support, danse is just standing there repeating it when you talk to him and ive cleared out the entire college square and the freaking church

did you walk around hitting Q to see if you lock onto any ghoul targets?

Nuke the site from orbit.

Semi-serious suggestion. As in throw grenades everywhere and see if you get the last ghoul. It's a pretty small area they spawn in.

Oh, just heard from someone else about this. Check the roof, one may have got up there.

Yupp, ive been doing that for about an hour now, my next move is going to be getting berry mentats to see if that even works on ghouls

They're not technically undead, so it should work.

Yupp, berry mentats does work on ghouls, unfortunately im not finding anything in the college square, im gonna stop playing for today, this is kinda pissing me off but thanks for the help dudes

i already looked through the google answers dude, the only option ive got left is using the console to force the mission to finish the task thats glitched

did you look up on the roof of the police station?

This glitch is avoided by aiding Danse when the quest to help him first pops and you can hear the firefight. If you decide to do it later and leave the area there is a good chance it will be glitched.

Don't go near the area unless you plan to take care of it.
