FPS and CPU / GPU details on top left of screen
Hello,

I tried Fallout 4 some time ago and could not find a way to fix this problem. I hope I may do better this time.

From the first running of the game FPS, GPU and CPU details are displayed at the top left of the screen.

To begin with resolution does not fit my display, so I edited falloutprefs.ini as suggested in a guide on Steam and elsewere. This simply alters bMaxsizeWindow to 1 and H and W to correct setting for resolution. The FPS, GPU and CPU details were at top left before and after I made this change.

I have also added the community patch via vortex, but made no other changes aside from those two. The top left display was there before and after making these changes.

The displayed figures appear to be part of the game and not any external program. When searching for solutions I find that one person on Steam had a similar problem and fixed it by removing "Razer" software. I don't have this installed. When I search for any problems with FPS I find many results about poor FPS but none about this FPS display. When I search for GPU / CPU display I get results about other problems with those two devices but none that fit the problem I am having.

Please help if you can.

I will try searching online a little more but have had very poor results so far. Most people who have a similar issue seem to be using additional software.

The text is white and about 10mm in from the top and left of the screen.

The full text is as follows:

60FPS MIN AVG MAX
45 57 64

GPU 26C 13% 2798MHz
CPU 43C 3% 1113MHz

03:00:55

In case it matters, here are some PC details:

GTX 970
1280 x 1024
i7-6700
Win10 1803 17134.471
16 G Ram

This problem doesn't happen with any other game, including Fallout NewVegas on steam.

Thank you for any help you can give to my sorry self. :)

Thank you grimus,

I am not doing a very good job of displaying a screenshot but hopefully the URL will do. It took me longer than it ought to have as I had the steam overlay switched off.

As you confirm it is not a standard thing, I guess I must have something installed that is doing it, but I cannot think what. I am a very light gamer and have hardly ever used mods or additional software for anything. Of course, I have probably let something slip by that I am not aware of .

Thanks

Thank you. :D It seems downright odd.

I have seen a similar display available from some graphics card drivers and some of the video capture programs. Usually some key combination is supposed to be required to bring it up.

Another possibility is you may need to actually turn on then off the steam settings for the in game fps counter and steam overlay as the game or steam may still think they are on for some reason.

While it is rare I have had some settings display off while they still acted as if they were on. Usually toggling them on/off fixes that issue.

What is the native resolution of your desktop?
You should match that in game for best effect.

1024x1080 seems like an odd resolution, and kinda low as well.
you should be able to run 16:9 (1600x900) easy with that card.
What monitor are you using?

Oh, the displayed info might be from the NVidia program for your GPU. Don't know the name off hand cause I use Radeon, which uses the Catalyst Control Panel for Game/GPU settings and a combo of keys can bring up something similar to that.

and as for it affecting certain games. some programs have a default list that only shows the specs on certain games that are popular and new so maybe thats why it doesnt happen on Fallout new vegas

I was beginning to look at NVidia settings and went to have a bath while it downloaded an update. Then I returned to see Thorman123456789's post. It was CAM. I only downloaded CAM to check CPU temperature, but have left it active because I like to see what is happening with memory from time to time too.

If not for that post, I would have gone through Nvidia settings and other things and may never suspected CAM. Thank you. I was really bothered by this, and am very happy that I can see how I enjoy FE4 tonight. Yay!

Thank you to the others as well. I am glad that the CAM suggestion saved me having to investigate for long, but you were certainly already helping me to look in the right direction.

I am very pleased. :)
