Why can't I just power up nuka-world by going to the powerplant immediatly?

What's stopping me? Why do I have to do "power play" quest. I should just go there and flip some switchs.

I think the excuse is that the power plant is damaged and the gangs need to work together to fix it up.

Although fair enough, I did open season and nothing stopped me from doing just what you said.

You can... if you kill all the nuka raiders first.

Your options are to follow the raiders questline, or do Open Season and then flip the switch. Open season is available right after the intro, just head to the vendor area and talk to the slaves.

Why can't I just flip the switch without doing anything? I went right in the plant and killed everyone there. Then what can I do?

If you were allowed to jsut walk in and power up the plant the story would make no sense. Then you would be here complaining the story did not make any sens einstead.

It's a mostly symbolical gesture that means nothing if you have no associated motives. For the gangs it symbolizes their control over Nuka World, while for anyone else it symbolizes freedom from the gangs. But, apart from making things prettier, it doesn't achieve much since there was already power available to run almost all the important stuff. It's just a celebration button.

You can't have your single settlment op[en without it on. I want the settlement to share resources with the commonwealth. So can I just walk the heck in and turn it on?
If so HOW?!? I already cleared it but didn't see anything but an admin computer saying "contanct maintenence"

If you don't do the prerequisite quests the button on the roof doesn't even do anything. RIP. I can't believe I have to travel back to the commonwelath over and over to upgrade anything.

Yeah, that part is kind of stupid, since it's not like the Nuka World settlement actually gets anything from the power plant (no free power allocation or anything, as far as I'm aware).

Ya, and you have to still built your own generators probably. Oh wells, I'll just keep plugging on. The kiddie place with all the ghouls is so hard. I keep getting whacked while I suffocate.
