one mod you may want to look for to add a bit of a challenge is Plutonium Creatures.
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/32647
its done semi-lore based in that the creatures being larger than normal has affected their eyesight, so they can't see you as well. but i'll tell ya, it's definitely an adrenaline rush when you see a plutonium mythic legendary deathclaw inside the witch museum
Being forced to Mod a mod, to keep game balance tells you a lot about the mod.
=)
That dosnt not invalidate the points I bring up. If anything, it confirms them.
Ive done that a few times. You end up having to edit every armor and gun you ever get for Skyrim, or Fallout, or anything Bethesda. Because people basicly make their own weapons FAR superior to anything you find ingame, because they fear if it dont blow the doors off of the best weapon in the game. Nobody will download it. Sadly in most cases the damage of guns has a snowball effect.
Someome makes a gun thats 2 damage more then a 10mm Pistol. Putting his gun at 20 damage. Everyone downloads it. Next modder adds 3 damage more to his... a month later, a new modder see's the 23 damage pistol and puts his at 25. And so on...
Fast forward 4 years and basicly every gun you download is 75-150 damage.
And the progression you describe for mods, also holds for DLCs. Largely because there is a big and eager audience of people who think the AK should do 100 DMG because it's cool.
19 out of 20 gun modders have no concept of game design or game balance, and half or more of them have no clue even about the guns they are modding in.
Yep. very true. I love my AR-15 at home. Dont get me wrong, but I would not put it past 33 base damage as thats the base for the combat rifle.
I also hate it when I do weapon mods that allow you to put a .50 Caliber mod, without changing the receiver and the barrel. How the hell is a .50 supposed to fly out of the barrel of a AR-15 chambered in 5.56. Thats physically impossible. :/
also noticed most caliber increase mods never add recoil...
Yeah, lets see how fast you end up on your ass with a full auto .50 Caliber combat rifle. lol
