There is no saving that quest now. For you to have entered the tunnel and cleared all the way through to exit through Slocum Joe's means you have broken the scripts for the quest.
The game does not like it when you have already killed mobs or looted items that were part of a scripted stage of a quest.
The Slocum Joe end has an unpowered elevator to keep you out.
The sewer tunnel has the terminal Deacon has to unlock to let you in.
So there is no way a player gets in to clear the area unless they go all console commando.
The terminal doesn't require Deacon. You can unlock it yourself (its Master level). The only place totally inaccessible without Deacon is the final room, where Carrington's prototype is. You can clear out the rest of it without ever meeting Deacon.
Who the hell has master hacking by the time you do Tradecraft? There is like maybe a dozen master terminals in the game.
I probably got confused because I tend to avoid areas that quests until I do the quests, simply because messing with those areas causes problems later. Like my current issue one of the @#$%ing robots from a previous trip in Milton General is killing Kent Connolly.
Sorry, I meant I went through the tunnel with Deacon, up the elevator with Deacon, and into Slocum Joe's with Deacon. However, the mission doesn't seem to progress on my pip-boy. Deacon doesn't say any new lines when we're through the elevator.
Yeah, I don't know if this might've caused it, but prior to Tradecraft I stumbled upon Slocum Joe's, killed the synths, went down the basement, but left when I couldn't find a way further down. Maybe that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ the script?
I exited the door and went out into whatever the town's name is.
Did you do the stage in Tradecraft where you try to enter through the front, or did you just go straight to the escape tunnel? You could try the alternative (whichever way you didn't try) to see if it makes any difference.
I went directly through the back. I don't know how I could re-pick the frontal assault option. The pip-boy says that the step I should be on is entering the tunnel.
There was supposed to be scripted events clearing your way through that teaches you about railroad signs and gets you into the vault.
You could try going to the vault but pretty sure Deacon is going to be stuck and not open the vault.
