how to edit a mod?
i wanted to edit the hellcat mod, cuz i love the design but the stats of it would just get me killed and have the armor broken within 1 minute or 2 in my fallout gameplay,

and i was wondering how to i change and add any resists and change its health in FO4 edit?
from my short time with it i was only able to change two resists and its health ,but i couldnt add more resists but i couldnt get it to apply in game as well

but also i was wondering if i can change something in its code or what ever to make other mods think its a normal X-01 and so the mods that are effecting the stats of an X-01, apply to the Hellcat power armor?

idk im just hoping to get this mod power armor to match the other stats of the vanilla power armors of which there stats are effected by mods (like nexus mods and or bethseda community made mods)

Creation Kit.

Make sure it's loaded and make your changes. But your changes will be another mod (which is depended to the original mod)

There are good youtube lessons about mod creation.

FO4Edit is probably "easier" when you need to edit one thing compared to another because you can simply drag and drop pretty much everything from one column to the other. Just hold Ctrl + click on two items (e.g. X01 left arm and hellcat left arm), then you can see what values are different and edit as you want

Yeah, FO4 edit. Just select the mod from the list, and edit the parameters you want to change. Like that Type 3 synth factory mod: needed a fusion core to make and 100 Power as well!? One or the other bro! And the list of required parts was so long that you couldn't see what you were missing. So, I edited the required parts list to lower the power to 50, remove the fusion core, and set many of the parts to 0 required until the list was just 8 so they'd all show. In the end, all the Synth factory mod is, is a glorified Settlement recruitment beacon. They're still dumb settlers who just happen to look like named NPCs.
Or the Alien pistol. No alien in his right super-mind would travel across the galaxy and arrive on a very violent earth with just a pop gun. There are combat rifles that put the thing to shame, and such an alien is clearly out gunned. So, I upped it a bit to radium rifle level; a whole lot really. It's my one shot stopping for BOS Paladins, Super Mutants, Deathclaws and rad chickens. Also, it makes getting the alien pistol more of a challenge - if the alien shoots you with that thing you're dead.
FO4 is worthy of support.

I confess I don't know the answer to that. I would never mod someone else's mod and upload it to Nexus. That's just asking for hate, frustration and despair. Some of these guys make mods for money (regardless of the Bethesda terms of service) and neither Nexus nor the modders are going to be happy with you modding their mods.

Don't steal others work and claim as if it is yours. Don't be thay guy.

Talk to author, take their permission. Or just use it yourself.

how im i stealing? its literally just a file that edits the persons mod? you would need to download there mod in the first place to have it even work (as there mod is over 300mbs and mine is 5kb, as its only a stat change)

but for now i will hide my edit on nexus until later (which will have to wait for tomorrow)

If you 'create' a mod which edits someones mod on the fly (in runtime) well, it's a gray area. I'd still let them know, if nothing else this would make it more compatible in future versions. Maybe author might wanna merge them and give you credit.

What i said was modifying someones mod file physically and uploading it as if its yours. This is wrong.

If you upload without authors permission, you run the risk of getting perma-banned from nexus...rightfully

Its best to not merge my edit, as it's only a situational download. If you downloaded a bunch of mods to make enemies harder and so on so forth (Also explosives in my game can be instant death in power armor , why? Idk my game is sorta not working jow it shoild but it's making it interesting and hard as hell in combat some times

Hence why I wanted to mod this Hellcat power armor mod , because it's stats was for a more vanilla like playthrough ,

Cuz with its stats by default , it will just get be killed within a minute or less and the armor will just break off like paper ,

Now what to do sbout thus mod edit I uploaded and now hid it for now...idk but I did credit on the mod edit I uploaded and have the requirement being there mod and what not. But if I got to double check with them , then I guess so but to as how? Idk atm and will have to do it tomorrow (well after I sleep that is)

But without the mods I downloaded. This mod edit I did, is just another cheat mod

If you are planing to upload it then get permission and if they say no. respect that.
If you upload it then be prepared to update you mod every single time the original author updates the mod

it's as simple as that.

If you don't get permission and just make it available to the general population then you will be reported, your mod will be removed, your account closed on Nexus and your reputation will be dirt in the modding community

Now what will happen when the mod is uploaded.
Person A downloads your altered mod, has an issue and harasses you to fix it even though it's part of the original mod and nothing you touched.
Person B downloads your altered mod, has an issue with a change you made and harasses the original author to fix something you changed.
well idk where else to put it so i know to redownload it again, if i so need to,
but get permission how? idk
