Ok, so the data path for bodyslide is:
D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data\
I looked at FemalyBody.nif and .tri and the .tri file was updated today and the nif hasnt been updated since november. (i didnt go try to build it in bodyslide cuz ive been trying that all day to no avail) so probably a pathing issue?
Make sure the following lines are present:
[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=
Vortex should have done this automatically but it won't hurt to add them if they're not present.
If you're still having issues, and you're absolutely sure TWB was installed correctly, a last resort method would be to build the body mesh while holding down the CTRL key. This will create the FemaleBody nif and tri files in the BodySlide working directory:
Data/tools/BodySlide
Just manually move those two files to:
Data/meshes/actors/character/characterassets
You should be good to go after this UNLESS you're using any of the Unique Player mods. If you are, you never mentioned this critical piece of information. You'll have to follow the author's directions if you are.
The .ini file had the 2 lines, i tried to hold ctrl when i batch built it but the femalebody.nif and .tri files didnt show up in the bodyslide directory.
I never said BATCH BUILD!!! I said BUILD. Theres a difference.
===============================================================
OK, then try this in BodySlide:
Choose "True Wasteland Body" in the upper dropdown
Choose "AmazonGoddess" in the lower dropdown
Hold CTRL + BUILD (not batch build) and see if the body now shows up in the BodySlide folder. If it DOES, now open the characterassets location:
Data/meshes/actors/character/characterassets
and keep that folder open on your desktop. Using the SAME options you just had, build the body again but this time do NOT hold down the CTRL key. I'm betting you'll see your femalebody nif and tri files update immediately.
What does this all mean if the body is now successfully built?
The custom preset you created is borked, probably because you used a CBBE base body (curvy, slim, athletic, etc) as your starting point and those sliders are different from TWB. It's either that OR you actually DID try to use Batch Build when I specifically told you BUILD. At this point I don't know what you did.
If this DOESN'T work, I'm pretty much out of ideas except to recommend that you triple check your TWB install along with the requirements. I would also strongly recommend that you read the POSTS tab on the TWB mod page since you might just find the answer buried in there.
Ok so im not sure if this is the issue, but their are 2 filepaths in the meshes folder. one is:
Fallout 4\Data\meshes\actor\character\characterassets and in "characterassets" there's a folder that is "managed by vortex" that im not sure what its for. The other filepath is:
Fallout 4\Data\meshes\Actors\Character\CharacterAssets in which are all the head, hands, skeleton and body .nif files. When i build in bodyslide it says:
Successfully processed the following files:
Fallout4\Data\meshes\actors\character\characterassets\FemaleBody.nif
At this point ive reinstalled TWB, Bodyslide, and all VTAW packs and conversions.
Data/meshes/actors/character/characterassets
and in that folder you will find your body mesh, hands, 1st person body and hands, skeleton and possibly a few other game files, INCLUDING the _folder_managed_by_Vortex file.
That's it. If you have a duplicate file path, that means one of those paths has some kind of hidden character in one or more of the folder names and that indicates a serious corruption in your game files.
If this is the case, stop what you're doing because you'll never fix this. You need to totally UNINSTALL the game by deleting the entire Fallout 4 game folder as well as ALL the ini files that are in Documents/my games/Fallout4. Once you've done that, you'll need to reinstall the game from scratch.
There was a single letter difference: actor vs actors. Vortex may be using the wrong folder.
Data/meshes/actors/character/characterassets
his other data path, the one that has "ACTOR" in it (without the S) will never be seen by the game UNLESS it was actually added by another one of his mods which he never mentioned.
I just downloaded TWB and looked at the True Wasteland Body OSD file and the output path is correct so maybe the OP has the wrong path in his BodySlide settings. Thats the only thing I can think of at this point.
Maybe he added that incorrect pathway here https://imgur.com/ywNqres . Normally that path would be left blank and BodySlide will use the Game Data Path by default, but like I said, at this point I don't know for sure. What I DO know is that second data path should NOT be there unless it was added by a mod the OP never mentioned.
The output path points to the Data folder, though. I don't see how that being wrong would get the Actor folder wrong. The error would have to be in the bodyslide file pointing to an incorrect output folder.
If you look at my attached image in my previous post, I circled a setting that should be left blank. If the OP entered a different output path in that area I circled, that would override the default Game Data Path. At least thats how I understand it.
If the body mesh was then created in that incorrect location (the ACTOR one) that would explain why he doesn't see his body preset in game. The game is hard coded to load the body mesh from
Data/meshes/ACTORS/character/characterassets
The ONLY way this can be overridden is by a mod. Unique Player is one such mod that does this. There are others as well.
BTW, this is NOT a Vortex issue. Vortex doesn't make changes to any settings in BodySlide. This has to be done by the USER.
Data/meshes/ACTORS/character/characterassets
and that's where your character's body mesh is supposed to go UNLESS altered by a MOD.
Deleting that ACTOR path may cause even more issues because IF it was added by a mod that is still active in your game, you game will most likely CTD.
I really HATE recommending the nuclear option but unless someone else has any other suggestions, I see no way out for you. You would have to delete the game folder as well as your ini files. This will not only kill your game, it will also kill your mods. You'll now have to reinstall everything from scratch.
I'm sorry but as Ripley said in Aliens 'It's the only way to be sure"
This will open a new window where all you have to do is click on "Download History". Every single mod you've ever downloaded from Nexus will be listed there, complete with links. When I came back to Fallout 4 a couple of years ago, this is how I rebuilt the bulk of my mod list. However, if you've also downloaded mods from non-nexus sites. it would be a good idea to make note of them yourself.
If you use Vortex, that mod manager will actually have the original archives stored on your computer so you don't even have to bother with the Download History other than use it as a double check. Just launch Vortex, click on Settings and then the Download tab. The "Downloads Folder" is where Vortex stores all the archives you've installed in your game. Instead of downloading all your mods all over again, you can just use the "Install from File" option on the top menu of the MODS page.
Keep in mind though, unless you're careful, you might just end up with the same issue that caused you to do the nuclear option in the first place. Choose your mods a bit more carefully and never EVER install them all at once. It's best to install them one at a time, check your game for stability and then move on to the next mod. READ the mod pages in full including the BUGS and POSTS tab. And for God's sake, don't install ANY Unique Player mod. They're more trouble than they're worth IMO.
