Are ridiculously long loading times normal?
I know I have a fair amount of hours in this game now, but my issue is starting to get to me a little more lately:

the game takes sometimes up to two minutes to load, especially if going outside. Is this normal? It doesn't matter if the game is on my SSD or HDD. I have no mods, nothing beyond all of the official DLC. This persists regardless of my graphical settings (i.e., everything on low doesn't change the loading times).

yes that isn't good. I run on a basic I5 old lenovo computer 12 ram no video card, and i have 3 cores and have tested my load times. 3 cores basically loads 25-35 seconds, depending on the area, someone suggest reducing it to 2 cores to load faster but that wasn't true, it increased all load times to 35 seconds, so went back to 3 cores.

2 minute load time moving between stuff, something is majorly wrong.

The two minute ones aren't frequent and only happen if going back out to the Commonwealth, but on average the loading times between cells is roughly a little over a minutes at times.

i would maybe look into your various config files for the cell loading lines like interior/exterior cell buffer lines and such and make sure they aren't some crazy high number, basic should be 32-64 hopefully your cell loading buffers aren't like 1000 lol.

Thanks, I'll take a look at those

I only have long load times if two factors are met....

1. Loading into an outdoor area.
2. There are NPC's fighting nearby.

When I exit a location into the outdoors and it takes a long time...once it finishes I hear the XP register sound...the longer the wait time...the more XP registers occur. I have yet to find a mod that disables the XP gain from nearby combat to see if that eliminates the long load times or not.

sometimes I have long load times, just quit the game and restart it. load times are fine for a while again.

There's a mod that fixes this, it uncaps the FPS during load times to literally cut them down to max 5 seconds each, running an rx 580 r5 5600x system i never get load times longer than 5 seconds thanks to it. Even now running an ENB+Reshade AA at decent high settings, no problems.
...I'd give you the name of the mod if i could remember it and find it in my load order lol im sorry. There has to be SOMEONE else running this, i figured it was a well known mod.

Oh...almost forgot...just throwing this out there for anyone who has the RAM to spare...

Yes the (very) long loading time in some places is normal. Specially when you go from an outside cell to an interior or the reverse.

During the last 5 or 6 years everyone came with it's own miracle solution to the problem but none works.

I also have these long loads... unless I specifically Alt+Tab out and in of Fallout during load. After AltTabbing back to the game it just finishing the load. Seems like a bug in the game.

I use these 3, pretty sure its been a year since I installed them, but I could never tell if High FPS Physics Fix even works. Eventually I get frustrated with the long load times and quit playing and try some other game. I come back when I get the itch again but usually start a new character with a different build.

I sometimes watch a youtuber but they don't seem to have this problem or they are just editing it out of their video, which makes sense.

Hopefully Creation Engine 2 doesn't have this problem.

Loading times are FPS related, uncap your FPS and they are gone.
Use AMD - Enhanced Sync, nVidia - Fast Sync.
Disable V-sync in game and in drivers.

I have to do the same thing. If I don’t alt tab the load to go outside the loading will run for too long. When I alt tab, the game loads in no longer than three seconds. There is def a bug in the game.

The High FPS Physics Fix was an absolute gamechanger for me, loading times went from a minute down to few seconds, and my fps from 30 to 144, making everything so much smoother.

So, High FPS Physics Fix absolutely 100% works dealing with slow loading times, thank you so much.
