There a list of buildings to never enter?
I notice certain buildings when loading in and loading out crash the game way more frequently than others. Does running the game in fullscreen/borderless cause more crashes then just fullscreen? Is there any way to minimize these game crashes?

there might be a reason why you're crashing besides just what building it is or whether it's full-screen or not.

there's people on here who will tell you they have thousands of hours playing this game vanilla, no mods, and nearly no crashes to report. i just got done with a very long vanilla play-through and didn't have too many crashes.

so if you're crashing, there's probably a reason, and like 9 times out of 10 it's a solvable reason.

first i have to ask if you use mods or not. if so then it's probably your mods but just to be able to rule out hardware problems, maybe you can post us your system specs

Click Steam | Help | System Information and post that here so we can see your system specs

also, have you tried doing things like uninstall / reinstall the game, validate the game files, update the graphics driver or anything like that?
anything in boston area below diamond city highly recommend not to enter.

Though that's more loading times than crashes. If crashes avoid any big settlements and keep settlers to a max of 10 hard pushing 12 if you don't have alot of stuff around the settlement and 8 if you're nearby like sanctuary and red rocket at the start of the game.

crashes may be your issue not the game's though.

1. Is weapon debris off?
2. Are you using a new NVidia driver?
3. Are you running any mods?
4. Did you remove any mods mid-game?
5. Are you using Buffout 4 to get a crash log?
6. Are you trying to run the game above 60 fps?

Are you running the game on an IPhone? You have to have one hell of a potato PC to avoid so many interiors, quests, and settlement building. Almost like what is the point in playing....

Crashing in vanilla is probably due to insufficient hardware capability. My pc is 10 years old and it doesn't happen ever. If your pc is up to spec then something else is not set up correctly.
Nowadays, 99% of your crashing is due to a mod incompatibility. For example, for the longest time, I enter the Combat Zone and my game crashes, if not immediately then after I take a few steps in... Is it because I run Combat Zone Restored? Nope. I actually figured out it was a replacement outfit I had on Cait that had a bad body morph file. So, it was bodymorphed for a superthin all 0's sliders body type, but Cait isn't that so it was causing the game to crash 9/10 times when loading into the area. The way I fixed it was to make that particular outfit, since I only use it on Cait herself, to 100% match Cait's body type and not morph. Also, the way I found out 100% it was Cait doing the crashing was I managed to get it to not crash, sent her to Covenant, and then found that loading into Covenant would crash... proving it was in fact Cait causing the problem.

my computer is old as ♥♥♥♥ acer G6 from 2013 using all the nvidia gay ♥♥♥♥ and i play fo4 heavily modded currently around 53 individual mods with all the dlc only time i crash is when i cc no clip and god mode and rain unholy hell shaun babies nukes from the sky with my fatboy spamming the mouse 30x . unsure if this helps but hey some mods do have the unfortunate issues. but fyi if your modded or on god mod and a you got a ♥♥♥♥ ton of items in your inventory this will almost always cause a crash on under powered pcs
often times my game crashes inexplicably, sometimes when i try to loot a corpse, crash

leave a building, crash

try to load a save, crash

thing is, i then try a second time on all of them, and 99% of the time, no crash the second time around

Sometimes a mod will goof up a particular cell, especially if you removed a mod. Often a mod that is highly recommended and sounds very tempting totally sucks and messes up your game. I suspect that some NEXUS mods have a lot of recommendations because of "friends", and there's money involved.
Mods and patreon, Nexus etc that get money involved is kinda sketchy business.

yeah if you get too many mods. Most of those type of mods have been removed from the sites thankfully with only a handful that still cause issues.

Idk if there is a list but i doubt that there is one. Because your crashes are spesific to you it seems, I play for hours and nothing happens.

It sometimes does a rare CTD but it is not consistent, i go back there and nothing happens next time. Those are very rare occasions.

As people have suggested your mods are causing this.

People using blanket statements like 'mods are your problem' can be safely ignored.
I've had times where they presented me with problems, 'cept it was usually 'cause I installed several mods at once when I was in such a condition to where I wouldn't have much trusted myself behind the wheel of a car. xD

Lol

I've done it myself when tired.Couldn't be bothered to read the mod description or installation instructions.Didn't look for any required files.

I must have wasted 100's of hours in the past messing around with them :steamhappy:

I'm playing on an older laptop, just barely meeting Requirements. Haven't had a single crash yet. Playing Vanilla, 0 mods.
