Guns reloading super slowly
So, i noticed that all of sudden, almost all of my guns have started to reload super slowly, like, absurdly so. Longest reload is 12 seconds! That's just straight up unacceptable

At first i thought this was an mod caused problem, so i disabled all my gun related mods, just to be sure. This didn't help at all. I noticed that arbitration has a setting fro slower reload, but i disabled it too, to test it, and, nothing

I tried to look for an answer online, been looking for a couple of days now, without any idea as to how to solve this. I don't even know what causes it. I reloaded an older save to check and it seems to be there too, only i spent most of my game building up my settlements, with few battles in between, so i failed to notice it prior

But now it is starting to really irk me, i can't play the game like this, having to carry multiple guns just so i can switch the gun itself in a fight, rather than the magazine

Instead of looking at just your weapon mods, if I were you, I would also look at ANY mod that affects or changes ANIMATIONS and / or TIME SCALE.

Maybe you have this installed and possibly messed up the settings or installed a conflicting mod? It's just a thought.

A mod messing with animations would do that, especially if it does not have a uninstall tool to restore the vanilla files.

I have this issue - not as extreme, though - with one particular weapon (from a mod).
After a while of using it - and adding more and more mods to the weapon as I level up - the reload starts to slow down significantly.

I can "fix" it by equipping a different (vanilla) weapon and reload it.
If I then take the mod-weapon again it reloads at normal speed... for a while :)

The mod-weapon comes with its own animations and I am pretty sure the issue is based on this.

So, as said already:
Check your mods for weapons with own animations, or any animation mod that may conflict.
And disabling mid play wont solve the issue, unfortunately.

I've tried to see if there is any conflicts with mods, timescale affecting ones but there is just nothing, still something is causing the issue to persist. As of now, starting a new game is outright out of the question, i've spent too long working on the settlements to see all that work go to waste... I even tried to use a mod that makes reloads faster, but that doesn't do absolutely anything either.
Guess i'll just have to use quick mags on virtually everything, or go for a melee build, or throw the game to trash and nuke Bethesda. Seems there's always SOMETHING wrong.

There are some causes I could think of, such as (1) since the reload animation is tied to your framerate, it might be a side-effect of having a fps drop during the reload. This one is easily to be verified by having a fps counter running. If there is a huge drop at the moment of reload, then there's the answer.

Another cause might be a (2) glitch with the "quick eject mag" weapon mod that may lead to this one. It involves swapping weapon variants that has it to one that does not have it. The animation speed did not improve when switching to the eject mag, but did decrease when switching to a weapon that does not have it. I remember vaguely a mod on Nexus that may fix it. Maybe I will edit my post later when I remember it.

Check your reload speed multiplier by putting "player.getav 2d3" into the console. As far as I could tell, the default value should be 0. Negative values will slow down your reloads, positive values will speed them up. Values above 1 or below -1 did weird and whacky things in my (limited) tests.

If a low reload multiplier is indeed the problem, and you've exhausted all other options, you can use "player.modav 2d3 (value)" to bring your reload speed back up to its original level. Just replace "(value)" with the difference between your current multiplier and 0.

This should be treated as the nuclear option. You should also note this down somewhere so you can revert the change, as it can seriously mess up your reload speed.

Well, at this point i'm desperate enough to try even that, as i don't think anything else might help. However, i've played many hours today already, i will try this tomorrow
Well, console command seems to have done the trick. The value was set at -0.6, so that's why everything reloaded at snail speed. I am now capable of continuing to play without having to deal with this nuisance, so thank you, Insano-Man

Glad it helped.

As mentioned before, I'd highly recommend keeping a note of this change somewhere. My hunch is that your character picked up a hidden status effect somewhere that messed up your reload speed. That means it's possible the effect could disappear, and your reload speed might shoot up to +0.6 instead.

To that end, I'd also recommend grabbing mod tools to hunt through your load order. If you can find what's causing it, it'd give you the chance to remove it from your character, or just avoid it in the future. FO4Edit would be ideal, from my experience; it's concise, quick to start, and loads up all of your active mods by default.

Thanks for the help. I actually learned something new regarding load speeds having an actor value that affects reload speeds. However like you said it is one of those values that you do not want to mess with unless you have to.
