Everything zoomed in after Alt-Tab

Basically the title says it all, whenever I Alt-Tab out of the game to look for information and go back to the game everything is zoomed in and looks much bigger than it should with the HUD not being properly visible.
I would guess it's a resolution issue but if anyone has any ideas why it's doing this it would be appreciated.

If we're both trying to achieve the same end result, the most logical path to take is to use process of elimination to determine differences between my own and the OP's configuration. The most notable difference in my mind most likely being the use of community-made patches.

That's crazy how your eight years of Fallout 4 experience didn't work for OP... Hence, why I offered my own assistance. No one contradicted you, nor did I claim that my method was foolproof. I simply offered a different avenue of approach.

My brother in Christ, you've just committed ad hominem. As I stated before, this is a discussion thread for collaboration. I never targeted you. Your post just happened to represent the consensus of the thread which didn't represent my experience/findings. Your solution was contradicted the minute it didn't work for OP. That is not my fault. Whatever issues you have or may feel about being targeted in this thread are ultimately a reflection of your own insecurity, not reality.

No, it got derailed when you chose to throw insults at me and insult me for trying to help. Now you try to assign blame to me for something you started. Instead of letting it die, you throw more insults.

The OP has an issue most likely caused by tabbing during a loading screen, which is a no no for any Bethesda game. That or has the wrong settings in their ini files. Let me guess time for another "it works on my PC" from you.

I'm amazed your game even works when you alt-tab. Usually just breaks all input for me.

Last time I used it, it did work just fine, but then it alt-tabbed out on me again a minute or two later randomly and made me think that the game had crashed.

Literally everybody here has the resolution matching the monitor except the one guy that doesn't have the bug.
Telling everybody to have their game at 1080p on their 1080p monitor as a constant input to a 10 year old game that's had this issue since 10 years ago is so unbelievably useless and pointless. We're looking for modern solutions, maybe a bug fix in a community patch someone made, not some guy stalking this thread to tell people to change their resolutions.

The only guy that offered some sort of advice you entered into a flame war with. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ man, get over yourself.

News flash, it doesn't matter what your monitors resolution is because when the game bugs it starts adjusting your monitor to the new resolution. But only half of the game is running at this new resolution making HUD and menus off centre. If anything, running the game in a lower resolution by default probably helps and why that guy doesn't even have the bug.

If its zoomed in and cropped it would indicate the games running at a higher resolution, maybe your game is running at it's own resolution but nvidia control panel is scaling it up, a lot of people have nvidia set to 125% with sharpening.
Maybe something to check.

If you are going to lecture and rant at me about a reoslution setting you should at least figure out what one is first. So let me spell it out for you and maybe you will learn something.

If your Windows resolution is set to 1920x1080 then the game needs to be 1920x1080.
There is MANY people out there that try to run Windows and games in setting other than 1920x1080. Some people do try to run with non-matching resolutions, which is WHY I pointed it out.

I know is this necroing a REALLY old thread but I just had to hop on and say this. you are a GOD my friend. after hours of troubleshooting, this was the fix!

I was having an issue downscaling running the game fullscreen at 1080p on a 4k monitor (because my GPU isn't good enough for true 4k) and every time I tabbed out, it would mess it up and zoom into the top quarter of the screen.

This is the most "internet" threat I've ever read.

Btw running the game in windowed and borderless mode fixed it for me - in case the other fix doesn't work.

Had this issue while playing FO:LON.

It seems that it's a problem of NVidia users. I got this glitch on my 2 PC's, different configurations, monitors, but both with RTX (2060, 4060).

I have seen that happen if I <alt>tab out of the game when the game is loading.
Only solution I know works is to quite the game and start again, and this time be more patient.
Never had the problem when the actual game has started.
