In the past some authors removed their mods resulting in other mods being unusable that relied upon them.
This led to many unusable mods that relied upon them as the base for what ever they did still being on nexus.
So basically nexus when implementing their collections (a list of links to the mod authors page and the vortex/mo2 sorting files) took steps to ensure that authors could not pull their mods breaking the collections. so we lost a lot of good mods.
Some modders felt they should be able to make their mods permanently unavailable to people by completely deleting them from nexus even though they are free no one profits from them. (the comments some of them made over this gave the impression they wanted to be able to remove them from our computers as well). Others misunderstood and thought the collections would actually contain their files not just links to them.
If nexus had gone with something someone suggested of having an opt in/out of being part of collections for a mod we may not have lost as many as we did. Many of the mods are still available from other sites and maintained by their authors while others are gone for good.
I think I lost 3-4 off my favorite list.
Were they handy mods, sure.
Were they necessary mods, no.
Will I miss having them, not really.
The idea behind the Nexus is to have a common place to get mods. I am not going to chase mods to dozens of websites and Discords.
True if a mod is good or not is strictly an opinion not everyone will agree on what is and is not a good mod and none of them are absolutely necessary. Though there were a lot across several of the games that were removed when certain authors pulled their entire account from nexus over the issue.
I only go to three sites for mods like you I am not going to go to discord and dozens of sites to search for them.
