strong is a possible companion
Even his genuine dislike for power armour is a very weak dislike. Most dislikes will drop your affinity by around 7 affinity points, while Strong's dislike for power armour is only a 1 point drop.
Half the trouble with raising Strong's affinity is that he doesn't have a lot of common likes, so you're mostly relying on just hanging around with him to let it slowly climb on its own. My notes say he likes eating corpses (if you have the feat for that), murder (killing nonhostile people), and theft.
Avoiding picking locks is all you really need to do to manage him.
I'm pretty sure I killed a unique, named, Super Mutant, though.
Strong dislikes you using power armor though.
I never tried to use him as Melee only, might do that in the future.
I usually have him fight as melee, since being a big distracting wall seems like what he does best.
A fun little quirk with ranged weapons is that he can use lasers and Institute lasers, but can't be told to equip them. So you'll sometimes find he's using one he grabbed during a fight, but if you take it off him he won't accept it back.
A. completely agree
B. Skarbrand, no uh, Strong hates everything!
Na. Dogmeat falls waaay behind some other companions not only in terms of combat effectiveness, but in looks. I find Curie's Synth form, much more pleasing to the eyes. :)
And yes OP, Strong is available as a companion when you rescue the idiot at the top of the Trinity Towers. However, I get him mainly because he makes a good provisioner. Doing the quest can also get you a very nice charisma buff suit from the idiot.
