f4se_loader bug
F4se_loader does not work right now, only loading from the launcher works for now.

Mods that need F4SE don't seem to be warning me to run through F4SE when I play through launcher...anyone knows what is going on?

Plus I got the auto backup.dll in my folders, how does that work? I thought it was a tiny program instead of a .dll

The "auto backup dll" is from a mod you have installed.

This is how you install F4SE -

[ Installation ]

1. Copy f4se_1_10_163.dll, f4se_loader.exe, and f4se_steam_loader.dll to your Fallout installation folder. This is usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\, but if you have installed to a custom Steam library then you will need to find this folder yourself. Copy the Data folder over as well.

2. Launch the game by running the copy of f4se_loader.exe that you placed in the Fallout installation folder.

F4SE is found here - https://f4se.silverlock.org/

^I've been doing the above for ages, unless there is a different version that just can out and it doesn't work right now

The latest version of F4SE works with the latest version of Fallout 4.

Is your Fallout 4 updated to latest version? If not you might need an older version of F4SE.

Do you get an error message when trying to run F4SE or does game just shut down or does clicking F4SE shortcut simply not do anything at all?

Those mods are just not loaded. You have been vague about "not working". What happens if you run f4se_loader.exe? It is possible that one of those F4SE based mod is having issues. A log (in My Documents folder) is generated each time you load by F4SE. I suggest to check it.

It's from this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/26956

Launch your game with the F4SE launcher, open the console and type:

GetF4seVersion

If it comes back with a version number, your F4SE is working and your problem is actually with another mod or mods, not F4SE.

Nothing happens when I load with f4se, it doesn't get into the game

you could check the solutions here:
https://tencomputer.com/fallout-4-script-extender-not-working/

personally i would just reinstall it. you said you copied the 3 files but did you copy what's in the data folder as well?

EDIT:
https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/6x4nmg/installed_f4se_game_wont_launch_after_clicking/
SOLVED EDIT(for those in the future who may have this issue as well): So after many awesome suggestions, what I did to fix it was:

Update F4SE, but also keep the 1_9_4.dll in there as well Delete MainMenu.swf from the steamapps/common/Fallout4/Data/Interface folder. Deleted the old .ini files in the my games/fallout 4(your location may be different) so it would create new ones. Ran Fallout 4 via Steam to get the little launcher to pop up, and launch it that way. Close it once I got to the main menu. Put in:

[Archive]

bInvalidateOlderFiles=1

sResourceDataDirsFinal=

for the custom.ini Launch game as normal and update any mods that have been updated so far. So far everything is working nicely. :D

you could try deleting your 3 ini files in the "Documents\My Games\Fallout4" folder. then launch the game to have them remade with defaults. then do the ini edit you have to do to enable mods. the one here in the quote where you enable loose file loading.

Make sure the f4se shortcut is actually pointing to the f4se launcher file.

When I have issues with f4se launching it usually turns out to be a left over plugin from a mod I removed that causes f4se to simply exit without showing it even tried to launch or launching to an instant ctd.

Or in one case I installed a mod or one of its requirements incorrectly by puting one of the files in the f4se plugin folder by mistake when it was to go in the game directory resulting in f4se instantly closing instead of launching.

I found the problem and fixed it, just deleted everything related to F4SE and then re installed it
