If you want extra xp to level faster (some do not) then Idiot Savant always pays for itself, even without save scumming.
generally speaking if you want XP and Caps you want to use the crafting system.
you go out and explore half your XP comes from kills half from crafting with the junk you get back.
you have 12 INT you can boost INT to get more XP.
if you have less than that you can lower your int to boost idiot savant chance of rolling.
I generally go with a starting INT of 10 drink a beer read the book get 11 INT get a 12th int from the bobblehead and switch to INT gear while crafting if I want to seriously grab XP.
Idiot Savant is a thing that makes low INT builds Viable. and thats fine. but theres also drugs that give +5 INT and outfits that give +INT so we can take our 12 base INT and raise it up to like 25, just for crafting, and at that point get more XP from our INT than we would from idiot savant.
experience really isn't much of an issue after level 30 or so. and I find INT 12 gets me to 30 easier than idiot savant.
