Whats up with the CC Chinese Stealth suit?
So I know there is a way to get this work, I did it before like a week ago. But the thing is that I did it on a COMPLETELY wiped Fallout 4. I think the key to getting this to work is having a completely wiped game, installing it first, AND NEVER UNINSTALLING IT AGAIN. If anyone knows any mods that fix the fact that literally just trying to install it makes the game have a stroke please tell me. It pisses me off so much that I paid money for this and I cannot even use it because someone screwed up when creating it. This is literally the only CC content I cannot run because it has to be installed in a ridiculously specific way and for some reason is the only CC content, or non original game content, that does not have a way to work whenever it is installed. If anyone has any idea how to get this to work without completely deleting my saves I am all ears.

First I heard of an issue with the CC Chinese Stealth suit.

Did you uninstall the CC item and play without it at some point? That would screw the save over. Got a save from before you uninstalled it?

I checked Nexus to see if there was any mod fixes for the CC Stealth Suit, only found a "improved cheat version."

I did notice a mod that had it and it did not have any of the outdated dependency mods.

I realize it aint what ya paid for, but could be a consolation prize I guess.

huh. I've had it installed for ... 400-500 hours or so, while constantly changing mods and starting new games and it hasn't caused any problems that I'm aware of (I first installed it while I was running plenty of mods too, most likely in the middle of an ongoing game, though I don't really remember).
Unfortunately, since I don't have to do anything special to make it work, I can't really tell you what I'm doing.

That might be what it is. Because I have a save where I had it but deleted it, and a save where I never installed it in the first place. I guess I will just have to delete my saves

Huh?

You most definitely do not have to delete your saves for an item mod. Thee's not even a mission quest script to get it, you just find it. Not remotely necessary to delete saves. It's usually very very rare to need this for ANY object-providing mod that doesn't have a ton of implementation script data. This one does not.

So what isn't working, you crouch and don't stealth? This is a known bug if you haven't been wearing it just carrying it around or leaving it in a footlocker... just drop it out of your inventory onto the ground. Save and exit, restart, pick it up... and bob's your (stealthy) uncle.

edit: The most confusing mod statement ever: "This is literally the only CC content I cannot run because it has to be installed in a ridiculously specific way" :-)

Dude I said in the original post it crashed my game. The only way I can get it to work is to have a completely fresh fallout save, install it first, and never uninstall it. The CC chinese stealth armor is literally the buggiest piece of ♥♥♥♥ I have ever seen. If there was a decent alternative I would use it but I really like the CC version. Upon installing it if you do not have a completely fresh save it completely crashes the game and you cannot load into it until the thing is uninstalled

That is nuts! Frustrating as hell, I bet. Sorry I misread it... I mean I read it but misunderstood what you meant. We'll have to try moving it, what if you move it to the bottom of your load list? Again it's just a item mod, the script for it is probably faking a stealthboy activation each crouch which is why it bugs out.

edit: wait I'm still not understanding - are we still talking about the CC content o that other buggiest PoS off nexus you're referring to as the alternative? Why not use the CC one if you have it, again? Sorry I can feel you frustration at this, I on't mean to be intentionally stupid here, I'm just confused if you have it why deal with shoddy a imitation if you know it won't wok for you?

Normally I would agree. However the stealth suit is not a simple texture replacer.

Then the OP had said he had removed it and added it later. So that is a warning sign it might be a mod not removable mid game.

Did I miss something on the one I linked earlier as an alternative? It had 13k endorsements and something buggy should get that high. I did forget to glance at the forums on the mod page...

No I am just saying the Creation Club one literally crashed my entire game. I think you are right in that it cannot be removed whatsoever once you get it working. I wonder why it does that though. You can do literally whatever you want with the other CC content. I was just wondering if anyone knew what made the Stealth Suit so special
MrFalloutManiac Mar 24, 2022 @ 3:23pm
I FIGURED IT OUT. Okay so pretty much I uninstalled fallout 4 and reinstalled it. Before loading in I checked the local files and noticed something peculiar. there were TWO files for the stealth suit instead of only 1. My theory is that when you delete all the CC content you have originally downloaded, specifically Chinese stealth armor, and you try to re download it. It only loads one of the two files. There is one for the textures and one for the main ba2 file. I only was getting one of those before.
MrFalloutManiac Mar 24, 2022 @ 3:25pm
So basically if you install the stealth suit on a new save and plan on deleting it later. copy LITERALLY EVERYTHING to do with the stealth suit and reinstall it using the copied files.
MrFalloutManiac Mar 24, 2022 @ 3:33pm
Ok so I just looked at it and there are 3 files. The Esl, Textures, and main b2 file. I think I might actually make a YT vid on how this works XD. I am sure there are other people who have had this issue

Do it.

I hope anyone having the same issue as me sees this. I will probably make a yt vid outlining this issue and have a link to a download with all the necessary files

Basically when any mod with an active script is removed it does not end that script when it is removed. So when your save tries to process that script it can create a crash because it is missing the references to execute the script.

SO a missing .esl file will do the mentioned issue. A missing texture usually displays a purple or invisible texture. This probably happened when you uninstalled it, and then the reinstall skipped those files for some reason.

Well I am glad you were able to sort it out.

Just keep in mind to finish your current save (or throw it away) before removing mods. Some mods can be removed mid save but is is safer to just follow the previous advice until you learn the difference and get more modding experience (as in create saves before uninstalling play a bit and revert if needed.)

Does anyone have all the files for the handmade shotgun. I am getting the same issue with them as I was with the chinese stealth suit
