Too bad that 4 scrapped the idea of weapons decaying as in FO3 and FNV, so does with clothing, armor pieces, and all that stuff (except PA in here, separated into pieces). Yeah, that can be damaged by taking hits, which decreases damage resistance.
On the other hand, modding weapons, armor, PA plates, and building construction are using junks, so at least these have uses, unlike 3 and NV where junks are not even usable and can be sold for caps at vendors (unless they're required for crafting at Workbenches or smth).
You know what's funny? MacCready's soldier toy that he gave when his affinity gets high was used to construct something that requires wood. And ironically it was done when I was furbishing The Castle. Shoulda kept it, but who knows?
Fortunately, though, that heap pile of junks I collected made me a bit wise on sorting the junks where I can select which junk that I can keep and which one that's used for construction or building weapon/armor mods. On new saves, I managed to sort out junks I can use to decor a settlement. I used the build with Strong Back perk maxed out so I have no worries about "always walking and distribute the weight, or leave some junks and other heavy stuffs". Kinda annoying at the first playthrough with new saves, but who knows?
Worth mentioning that without weapon/armor decaying, it makes things easier, but it kinda lacks realism that inspired from the weapon decaying feature that came from FarCry 2. In FO3 and FNV, repairing stuff requires the same item in your inventory, whereas FarCry 2 has no repair system, requiring you to swap weapons.
I do not miss having to repair weapons. It was a tedious chore.
Seems i'm the only one that actually likes to manage and repair my gear / weapons in games like this.
Wouldn't hurt if they made it as additional optional setting when Survival is enabled.
Equipment Degrade ON/OFF
But way too late for that. This ship has sailed long ago.
also fusion cores can be depleted.
in this game there's a bigger emphasis on crafting. You can either sell excess items armors weapons junks aid items etc.
or
scrap weapons and armors for components. Having salvage perk skill at max can get alot of components out of highly modded weapons and armors like leaded polymer combat armor or .50 recon scoped lightweight lazer sniper rifle.
In this game fusion cores are used to power power armor suits. Power armor suits are a new type of basically a mecha suit.
armor isn't crafted either unless it's syringer ammo
you can literally use a single weapon and just modify it at a workbench same with armor pieces. Oh btw armor pieces are several instead of just a suit and a helmet/hat. There are slots for head hats, eyeglasses, mouth piece or bandanas, rings, chestpiece, arm and leg pieces, and clothes.
legendaries replace unique weapons. Where they can drop from legendary enemies or be found randomly in chests / some places. Basically unique weapons are just legendaries with names with some exceptions.
