GitHub is a version-control based platform where software developers can share their work (as source code) to other people. This platform is in use by a lot people, both companies and particulars (including me). This however does not guarantee that the codes available there are safe. It really depends of the context and purpose of a project.
You are not looking at the right place. That page you're visiting is only useful for mod authors, those that want to continue the project or those that wants to compile the code themselves. For these, some experience with F4SE and Papyrus (programming language of the scripting that Fallout4 uses) scripting is required.
There is certainly a working mod build from this project around. I found a site but because of Steam's rules, I cannot share it here since it's an adult only website. Just google it.
You are literally asking if you can get a virus from something you've already downloaded. If you can, its too late now.
