Is there any way to craft a lot of ammo or buy it for low price?
Ammo is a huge problem in this game
Usually enemies drop way less than you spend to kill them and it's generally not fun to carry only 10 buckshot shells and 50 pistol bullets all time
I figured out one of the DLCs has an ammo factory and already built it & made 30 10mm bullets but the question is where the hell do I get mor resources to craft or buy ammo?
It requires fertilizer,lead and plastic
Plastic is easy to get from recycling plastic trash but where the heck do I find lead and fertilizer?
I've read to get fertilizer u need to have mutant cows in your settlements, it's ok but where do I get lead?Is there any place loaded with lead items?
OR is there any way to find a shop/character that sells cheap ammo in huge amounts? Because I think it's not fun at all to buy something like 40 10mm pistol rounds for 200 pieces of ingame currency which is already very hard to get
At some point I got broke and had to steal ammo and resources from allies just to be able to defend my character from some random monster
Btw also is there any chance to get a decent weapon from elite enemies? Because everything good I got so far is a sawn off DB shotgun which I upgraded to the normal long version, a sawn off .308 carbine which I also upgraded to a normal long barrel scoped rifle and an upgraded 10mm pistol with extended mag and higher power
Is there any way to get normal non DIY weapons from dead enemies or I have to craft them or buy from NPCs?Kind of got tired of recycling tons of those ugly rusty guns for steel and wood

Start by setting up a ton of water purifiers at your settlements, wait a few days and collect all the excess water, sell it at Diamond City & Goodneighber, Arturo and KLEO should have plenty of ammo. Later On you can build your own gun shops at settlements and buy ammo without leaving your home.

Legendary Weapons are random when they drop but there are static ones for sale. Spray n' Pray from Cricket is a favorite because of the explosive rounds.
The Overseer's Guardian (Vault 81) is another good weapon, fires 2 shots for the price of one.
The Last Minute is a fully upgraded Gauss Cannon you can buy from Ronnie after taling back the castle.
There is also the Alien Blaster in a cave near the Crashed Alien ship, that shows up at level 20. It has limited ammo but you can modify it to fire regular energy cells for slightly less damage when you run out.

A good easy free one is the Righteous Authority, a laser rifle with the Lucky effect that Paladin Danse gives you after a short quest (which he pretty much does for you) where you can also pick up a ton, like over 100 energy cells.

If you get your charisma and trading skills up, ammo costs 1 a round. Then if you pick up the lucrative armor and weapons off your enemies and use grape mentats and wear a funny hat to alter prices in your favour then you should make money overall. Pick the items with a 10:1 price:weight ratio, Also manufacture food and chems. If you have seen The Wire series more or less become an Omar Little clone. Also, improving weapons can be profitable. Good weapons can sell for 500. If you don't use PA sell the fusion cores. I use dogmeat to collect stuff after combat, he always seem to have loads of ammo.

10 mm? That's crazy talk! Make .45 ammo, cost just 1 fertilizer and 2 steel (and that's without a mod! Most of the mods like expanded manufacturing are worse! Too many modders make their mods worse than normal game play.)
Even without mods, I've managed to keep in ammo by buying sacks of fertilizer. I hear you can get a two headed cow and get 1 fertilizer each day, but that's just 10 rounds!
0.38 is also 1 fertilizer + 2 steel, but that's pop-gun stuff. 0.45 isn't the best, but you can make a lot of it.

1. water purifier farm
2. setup a weapons trader in your settlement
3. sell water to them and get the ammo from them.

another way is the dlc vendors have more ammo. Weird it's almost like Bethesda realized halfway before making dlc that ammo would become an issue.

There are mods and you can always just console command spawn them with ~ player.additem (ammo ID) + 100000

there are mods to spawn more stuff for vendors too. And if that's not your cup of tea you can mess around with the files and increase vendor items.

Some ammo are farmable. Like mini nukes just decap or bodyshot anywhere but the nuke arm the mutant suiciders they'll drop 1-2 mini nukes.
Synths in the arc jet for fusion cells

Is there any normal .45 pistol?I mean I don't use and always throw to recycling everything that looks rusty and unrealistic

Ok thanks people, I'll try to sell some water and see what does it give...

Build a feeding trough in your settlement and attract a Brahmin afterwards you can craft jet by gathering any kind of plastic.

Jet sells for a lot when you don’t have to buy fertilizer to craft it.

It's actually the combat rifle and the best one you can find is the Overseers guardian at Vault 81

Yeah those things. Solid weapons with cheap ammo.

There is an '' Infinite Ammo '' on nexus that uses 2 options . One is a infinite ammo coat ( looks like Mason's battle coat ) , or a ''magic'' ring you either wear or ''attempt wizardry'' to install the ring's power on/into our clothing or armour . Either way , You'l never run out of ammo again . If I remember correctly , you'l find the mod in the ''God Items and cheat ''
category .

Well said.

And I tried making my own ammo. Forget that. It is not hard to get more ammo off enemies ( do not forget to loot the weapons off enemies along with the ammo, you will get extra ammo that way ) and making caps to buy it off vendors is no big deal.

There is also some perks which can help.

Caps is not an issue for me. you have settlements, you link them up with supply lines, you make alot of purified water, tatos, mutfruit and Corn. you craft Adhesive (vegetable starch at a campfire)

you take this adhesive you get a Suit of power armor the low end one parts are cheaper, you go and make mods for it, winterized coating and explosive shielding with rubber and ceramic. and some other stuff.

you remove those mods, stick them in a box not attached to the settlement inventory, make a ton of them. .5 weight 200 caps value.

you go and use that to buy ammo.

I also craft Jet from fertilizer and plastic, and combine with flamer fuel for jet fuel, this is more cap neutral but gets alot of XP.

but again for caps, farm adhesive and make explosive shielding and winterized coating for the T-48 and you can get tons of caps for barter relatively cheaply.
