Why Make Food In Fallout 4?
Why do people like to make boil there food in Fallout 4? We can do
Missions ect set bases, is it better just to collect food?
What specials like to do?
So the food water made boil would not have rads being fresh? But would not
Happen in life? So people boil food just for fun? What food is best to do?
Mutfruit is best to farm?

-Which meal you can make gives the best stats and what's your favorite one?
-Does the water they boil for cooking not have rads in it?
-Does Boiled water actually kill radiation in real life, no way, right?
-Is Mutfruit the most nutritious/delicious edible settlers can farm? (I'm assuming since it gives +1, yes)

Mutfruit worth much more and does not weigh much.

Based on the numbers from the wiki, the only benefit mutfruit has is weight. Tatos cost much the same (7 caps instead of 8), except you get twice as many per farmer (12 tato plants compared to 6).

Besides that, if you really wanted to make money you would be selling water, not vegetables.

Edit: Corn is better. Same weight as mutfruit, but has a value of 6 instead of 8. As you get twice as much corn for the same amount of farmer, a single farmer can handle 12 corn plants (12x6= 72 caps) or only 6 mutfruit plants (6x8 = 48 caps).

I see pjedilord has moved into the Fallout 4 steam forum. And is still high as a kite while doing so.

He's been here the entire time. His threads (at least the ones that haven't been deleted) go back months that I know of.
I'm sorry to hear that.

And I'm glad the math forever checks out with the lore that purified water >>> any growable food.

I tend to prefer mutfruit for using fewer plants in total, which makes it easier to fit into garden beds (five mutfruit to one bed) and easier to manage in general if I rearrange anything.

It may or may not make a difference in terms of item complexity and build limits. I've never really tested whether two tato plants (for example) take more of the build budget than one mutfruit plant.

Corn I tend to avoid entirely because of the way you end up with stalks scattered around when it gets damaged. I've had the game take its sweet time clearing things up with corn.

Cooking food gives you xp, items that provide healing and lots of other benefits - everything from healing radiation, to increasing strength, to breathing underwater.
Pre-war food doesn't do much healing, doesn't provide any secondary benefits, and gives you rads.
Which food is best depends on how you built your character, how you play, and what you're trying to do. A strength boost to a sniper character isn't worth the same as a melee character. Food that does a huge amount of healing is wasted on characters with 1 Endurance.
In the REAL WORLD radioactive water is most likely only radioactive because there are radioactive materials suspended in it. Simply boiling the water doesn't kill radioactivity like it kills bacteria. However, DISTILLING water would work well to reduce/remove radioactive stuff in the water.
If you're growing food at a settlement there are several things it can do. First, obviously you're supposed to have 1 food for every settler. If you're playing survival mode you MUST eat food regularly and growing crops at a settlement to then make food out of is an advantage to you. If you have settlers growing mutfruit, tatos and corn then you can cook those three together to make adhesive - which you can then use in crafting or sell it. If they're growing razorgrain you can cook that along with dirty water to make noodle cups - which provide rad-free healing despite using dirty water to make it - or again you could sell it. Carrots are necessary for the vegetable soup recipe. Of course, you can also collect dirty water around the wasteland and then cook 3 of them together to make 1 purified water - which is not at all an efficient use of dirty water because it's better used in other recipes, but you can do it.
The best part about cooking food is that it doesn't cost you anything in terms of perks, or gear, or SPECIAL requirements. It's all FREE xp, free stat and ability benefits, freely obtained stuff to sell or help you make other stuff. It's especially helpful when playing at lower levels.
