It replaces ants and flying ants with radrats and eyebots respectively. It also replaces bloodworms and cave crickets, I don't know whether these can be toggled or not

Never saw any in FO 4, not in the 4000 hours I've put into this.
That's 4000 hours without Nuka-World.
I am pretty sure that Nuka World is the only place I have noticed giant ants in FO4.
