Trying to get this game working on Intel HD Graphics 2000
I know it sounds like something a person who just got a PC would say but hear me out. My brother recently got a PC with an i5 2500, Intel HD Graphics 2000, and 8 Gbs of RAM. I've seen some people get this game to work on Intel HD Graphics but every time he clicks start in the Fallout 4 launcher, it show a black screen for about 3-5 seconds then closes. No error code or anything. He has tried mods and changing the ini file but nothing has changed. Is there something I'm missing here? Or is his PC really just not enough to boot the menu?

Honestly Intel HD Graphics cards are horrible to run games I would suggest he upgrade to a Nvidia Graphics card because chances are his computer with the HD Graphics the video card is just not able to run it.

The thing is, Intel is not better than the others brands regarding the names of their chips.

From oldest to newest :
Intel HD Graphics > Intel HD Graphics 2000 > Intel HD Graphics 3000 > Intel HD Graphics 2500 > Intel HD Graphics 4000 > Intel HD Graphics 5000 > Intel HD Graphics 6000 > Intel HD Graphics 500 > Intel HD Graphics 600 > Intel HD Graphics 700

The 2000 are from 2011 and the 600 are from 2016.

The 600 are barely able to run FO4, the 2000 are not even able to run the menu of FO4.

It may be possible to get the game to run at a most reduced setting. However, if your approach is to just start the game and hope it somehow does it for you then perhaps you do not really want this.

If you do want this then you should start searching Google and NexmusMods.com for ways to get this done. It will require some effort.

Here is an old thread with some more info for you to consider:

You can try what this guy has done. But the igpu he uses is twice as good as the i5-2500 igpu.

Fallout 4 requires a GPU with DirectX 11.0 level features.
I think Intel HD 2000 GPU supports only up to DirectX 10.1.

Do you have any other DirectX 11 games to test?

The 4000 was the first halfway decent Intel GPU, and I doubt it would handle FO4 very well. Don't see it happening on a 2000.

The only integrated card from Intel that can play decently fallout 4 (30 frame) without workaround or reducing the game graphics worse than fallout 3 are the newer UHD and Iris in 10th and 11th gen processor, on and Intel 2000 it's just a miracle your PC doesen't explode
