Can't get cbbe to work (FIXED)
I am very new to nexus mods but not to the fallout series, I moved my fo4 to a ssd recently along with all of my mods but can't seem to get cbbe going. vanilla game model with no change whatsoever. Also i can't wind it in my mods on the fallout main menu screen aswell. I currently use vortex as my mod manager.

does it not work with vortex?
Lucifer69 May 3, 2021 @ 7:05pm
It doesn't matter what manager you use, though I hate Vortex for how complicated load orders are (you have to use LOOT and set exceptions, instead of drag and drop). NMM, MO2, and Vortex will all work just fine.

Anyways, it should be as simple as install the thing and done. You may need to enable archive invalidation, but all three mod managers can do it by default.

Thats your first mistake, don't use vortex, download Mod Organizer 2, then just download CBBE, let it install and it should work.
He can use anything he wants. Lots of us here use Vortex and it works JUST FINE. Sick and tired of people slagging off Vortex. I have been using it for 2 years and not a SINGLE problem, It works FINE.

Something else....I would NEVER tell someone NOT to use MO2. Both managers work well.

MO2 can be a bit overwhelming for new users, but there's plenty of tutorials on it. That's not the issue though. It would be better to figure out why it's not working before making a jump to an entirely different mod manager.

As I said, make sure archive invalidation is enabled. There's plenty of guides on it, just use Google (or search Steam here).

Yes, it works perfectly. Vortex is a lot easier to wrap your head around, in particular if you're someone new to modding. I've modded CBBE 3BBB. Everything worked like a charm.

90% of the problems people have with Vortex is incorrect installation and improper pathways.

no i didnt, i have bodyslide but never found the option to change the body

If you just want the plain CBBE preset, no need for that... First, try getting CBBE to work in its most basic form. Then play with Bodyslide.

Edit: Bodyslide is not a mod, it's a program. A tool.

i just don't want to do archive invalidation without instruction or context so it doesnt obliterate my game

1. BodySlide is a mesh builder, nothing more, nothing less. A mesh is is what gives a game object it's shape. Textures and materials are what gives the object its looks.

2. There must be literally thousands of video and text tutorials on how to install CBBE and use Bodyslide. All you have to do is Google, READ and WATCH. You should start by READING the mod page. If you don't care to READ, WATCH and LEARN, then expect your game to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up when you're done.

3. Whatever mod manager you decide to use, it will never work properly if you don't set it up correctly. Once again, there are tons of tutorials that are just waiting for you to WATCH, READ and LEARN.

It really isn't that hard to do, you just have to be willing to do a little work.

MO2 maintains it's own copy of the game's ini files. It doesn't use the vanilla ones. You have to edit them within the manager. I'm not sure if Vortex does this, but the lead developer on Vortex is the same guy behind MO2...

In any case, I'm unlikely to be of any help moving forward because you seem to want someone to tell you everything when you are seemingly already incapable of reading. So what's the point? The documentation is one or two searches away...
