The game should of been tested and optimized before it hit the shelves.
Its a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ disgrase how these game companies are getting away with selling us broken ♥♥♥♥.
If i were a lawyer i'd sue the pants off them for selling broken, unpolished, untested products.
My tips:
1: First, go through and clear EVERYTHING. Find the uranium mines, clear every single piece of clutter, because otherwise you won't have enough builing budget to do anything.
2: The "Vault Power Conduit" in the connector's and switches section is necessary. If you connect 2 VPCs via normal wires, you can carry vault power through even the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ little tunnels into other areas, if need be.
3: The Rooms section seems useless at first, but in the end of the Domestic section, you'll see an Endcap which connects Atrium pieces to Room pieces.
4: Consider not building a vault. The tiny tunnels and lack of space or ease of building (Snapping Atrium ceilings just does not work 50% of the time) means if you do not SPECIFICALLY design a specific vault (Forgetting mods of console commands to cheat it), you can't make a proper vault. Consider the VAST amounts of PERFECTLY flat dirt, the free 150 power unit, and the massive water generators. Just build a town. Make a bunch of small individual buildings like you would outside the vault, and use the VPC and wires to power them all.
This is a total crock of sh%t.
I may look into hiring a lawyer. I was lied too about the game, told 'HEY CHECK ME OUT, NEW FALLOUT AND YOU CAN BUILD STUFF!!" .. which you really cant. Due to bugs, game glitches and poor coding and programing.
Its so simplistic and idiotic its absurd to say the least.
Hardy any items to build with cept walls and a few decorations..
i can go on and on about how lame this turned out.
I admit it has a wonderful story, BUT the selling point is 'building' .. and you cant do that.
Then don't use them. I am just trying to help you deal with the current reality that Vault 88 is bugged....and probably won't get fixed. If you want to bulid a vault (not an undeground settlement) then using console commands is one way that I have found works well enough.
Vault 88 mega build connects everything. From the back corner of the pumphouse 'lake' room out the front door of the vault, in uninterrupted vault parts.
*shrug* works for me. Ok, mostly. I admit to an unhealthy level of needing to fiddle with atrium parts, particularly in corners... but I've got a perfectionist streak and tend to stop halfway through a run across the Vault because I just noticed I didn't get a light centered.
I ignored the tunnels and built all the way around and up through the back wall entrance. Tunnel use is limited to a concrete storage room for the main atrium trading shop (didn't want to waste the space) with an emergency exit into the tunnel, and an emergency exit from the reactor room I placed in the area next to the pumphouse. Yes, there's a large area in the side room off the tunnels (I think that's where it is) that can't be tied in, but I have plans to concrete the hell out of that area as a rather third-world looking prison complex (because every vault has it's dark secrets).
Old video of quick runthrough right after I got the link and some exploratory building into the pumphouse through the back room:

Actually starts at 1:50, it was only the second time I've used the streaming software and it's clunky. Pardon the frame rate too, the game's ok by itself but the streamer starts asking a little much of my poor nearly-potato PC.
No mods, by the way. Anything you see that isn't bone-stock standard buildable was spawned and aligned by console command only, which does *not* include any of the vault parts. If it's a vault part, it was snapped into position. And maybe realigned once or twice once I learned the tricks and traps... but only using vanilla build mode.
