Where do you go at the start of your journey?
So as many of you already realized, all of us have some kind of path to follow for every character we create, those first hours of any playthrough you end up going to the same places, because you feel comfortable knowing where the enemies are, the level of the enemies, and you kinda know what are you going to find in each place at certain levels.

So the point of this thread is to share new ways to "start the playthrough".

My standard start is:

1) Red rocket
2) USAF satelite station olivia
3) Super Duper mart
4) Corvega Assembly plant
5) Wreck of the USS riptide (if the build allows me to kill a guy in power armor)
6) Hangman's Alley
7) Diamon city

I do that because i know i can take down the bad guys inside those locations at low level, but it would be nice to see where do you guys go when you start your playthroughs so i can change a bit and keep a fresh experience each time.

Note that i play on survival.

My current route more or less goes:
Red Rocket
Abernathy Farm
Wicked Shipping
Sunshine Tidings
Thread the path between Graygarden and Arcjet to try and avoid the BoS transmission
Swim across the river to Oberland
Diamond City

Yeah I like survival too. I usually pick up dogmeat, then rescue Preston. Yep, no imagination. Then I go get rightous authority, which come in handy later when im rescuing Nick. Diamond City quests are easy levels. I like to go to 81 when I have the caps and cores for you know what. Destroys everything, especially with a luck build
I usually start in Sanctuary then go to Red Rocket and grab Dogmeat. Then head south avoiding Diamond city and try to make my way to the Castle.

For Survival stealthy sniper builds (no companions)
1) Red Rock for mole den and Charisma glasses and fungus, fusion core and loot.
2) Drumline Diner to buy silenced pipe rifle, gets a silenced weapon way before you can build one)
3) Museum of Freedom back to Sanctuary and get it setup
4) Satellite Station Olivia
5) Up to Tenpines (MM quest)
6) Raider Cap on overpass east of Tenpines for Laser Sniper rifle (trailer with skull)
7) Back down to Starlight Drive Inn Charisma suit, loot and Sleep
8) Drumlin Diner to sell and restock ammo
9) Gorski Cabin - Nuclear material and loot
10) Concord - Super Duper Mart
11) Corvega Plant (sleep in apartment outside) Tenpines quest (sleep again)
12) Cambridge Cop Shop start BoS
13) Vault 81 - Buy Overseer's Guardian
14) DC - 8:00 am Cricket outside buy spray and pray if doing commando build otherwise armmo

I avoid all the double shot legendaries, makes the game absolutely easy sadly, and that thing is quite cheap for the power it wields.

I was actually wondering if there is something to do in the castle without preston's quest.

Yeah i forgot about the silenced weapon, but simon and the other guy are kinda hard to beat without power armor and i dont use vats for any build after trying the crit build with melee and other one with pistols, it felt like i wasnt even playing the game, but i had a lot of fun one shotting everything with melee (that telep too, so op)

Im going commando with stealth atm, idk if spray and pray fits the roleplaying style but i think i ll grab that beauty anyways.

Would be nice if there was a map or two in this topic. Cmon guys lets not be lazy here. :)

I do know the areas mentioned, but Gorski's hutt or what ever I am not sure where that is and I need nuclear material for fuel for my Highwayman. Excellent mod for survival.

Although I still hope they add a travel system in an update. I was just watching a Skyrim play through and it has wagons for traveling. Why doesnt Fallout 4 have something like that!

Abernathy Farm is where bottlecaps as currency is explained, but I usually walk past the Drumline Diner and Trashcan Carla on the way to Corvega Plant. I found it odd that they didn't put the "what are bottlecaps" dialog with Trashcan Carla and the Diner merchants since there's little reason to go to Abernathy farm first.

Red rocket.
Concord.( unique settlers and i don't interact with preston in sanctuary)
Drumlin diner. (merchants)
Walden pond (magazine)
Sunshine tiding coop (for the meat magazine)
Lonely chapel (food)
Cambridge police station (quests)
Diamond city.

Gorsky Cabin is due West of Drumlin Diner thru the woods south of the road to goes between Concord and Sunshine CoOp. There is a Wasteland Survival Guide (marks DC on your map) and mini nuke pulse the nuclear material. There's also a terminal with a story just like others.

Outside back toward Drumlin to the north is a camp with a nice drug cache early in game. I've found an antibiotic there before.

Yeah for survival my goal is to make big circuits so as not to repeat the same area too much. I use Drumlin Diner to sell off loot and restock ammo for this route so I might stop there 2 or 3 times before heading south.

Spray and Pray is a great commando weapon. I've used it late into the game. You just have to be careful with the splash damage as it will damage friendlies and turn them hostile and it will eat you up of you fire it point blank range.

Red Rocket is on the way to everyplace.
Abernathy farm to pick up some produce to plant.
Greygarden, pick up the quest, down the tracks to
Oberland Station....get the quest then head to
Diamond City, pick up piper and rent a room so I can storm
Hangman's Alley to set up my new base of operations.
All that generally gets me up to level 5ish. After taking hangmans I generaly do random stuff.
