I've done it multiple times, and the main issue I've had is being able to get properly clear of the area before he finishes counting, especially with Nick trailing behind you.
He starts to count, but as soon as I run past they all yell and start shooting. Is he one of the characters that goes haywire if you're wearing power armor? (no recon mod, helmet has rad scrubbers so I can eat pre-war food and drink nuka-cola without getting irradiated.)
Unfortunately I do not have the game installed to find the SQS settings on MQ104 but it may be that one or more have been activated and it will be a glitch without starting a new game. Some quests are activated when you exit vault 111, some are when you open Vault 111 door. Emogene is one (ms09 & DN10) and if it doesn't activate then you can never complete "Secret of Cabot House". Unfortunately you don't find out till far later in the game and is frustrating as hell
ssq ms09
This will check all parameters and possibly clean them. I have used this several times in different quests when I know everything is correct
This has happened with every new game I ever started, even when my only helmet mod was the bright headlamp. Yes, I'm always in power armor when I do this one, I thought the exaggeratedly short fusion core lifetime was stupid and the very first thing I did when I started to play was get mods that let me keep using my power armor.
Cool, I'll remember that. I imagine the 'ms09' is going to be different if I try this on different quests? I keep having a problem with the brotherhood quest under the airport with the scribe always becoming violent, same story as here, so maybe it will help me there.
I've already moved on from the quest this thread was about. :P I gave up and just blew them all to hell.
That's already been brought up and ruled out as I don't use it.
SQT gives you the list of active quests, such as MS09
SQO ms09 gives you the active/completed/future objectives
SQS ms09 gives you every step that is taken so for example the conversation with Nick and Piper in the office shows each part where you reply to one or the other.
SETSTAGE ms09 x forces the quest to progress to the next stage. "x" is the active objective
There are only about 1200 commands in the console so it is an easy language to learn, well for those who have used these for nearly 20 years (Oblivion through to Fallout 4) they are now easy.
There are a lot of hidden tricks for example most console list say "TMM 1" to show alll map markers but you lose any experience of finding them. If you use "TMM 1,0,0" then this will show all locations but greyed out so you can still find them, get the experience and don't miss a location
Heh. I've only been using the console since Skyrim; I didn't get into oblivion because the art was so ♥♥♥♥♥♥. The faces were all round, everything was all cartoony. Morrowind looked much better even though it was years older.
That said, I have never gotten very deep into it. I mostly use it either for TCL when I get stuck in a stupid rock or glitch through the ground. Well, that and when I've just wasted three hours looking for one frigging crafting ingredient and I Have Had It. So yeah, I don't know all these in-depth debugging details. lol
I am surprised... Oblivion was in 4kb graphics which has more letters than the 4K we use today.. Very lifelike. Oh and you are right, every rock was an opportunity to get stuck which I thought was the object of the game for the first 6 months :)
