Where is my steel, wood, glass, etc.
How do I tell how much of salvaged material I have? Cannot locate things like steel, wood, adhesive, glass, etc. Not located in the "R" on PC, to store things at workbenches. I see in the menu while crafting, where it says like, 999/2 but that is the only thing I have found.

It's the total component value of everything you have under the Junk section in your workbench, plus any you carry on yourself.

You can drop junk on the ground and scrap it manually to get the raw scrap, but that's very time consuming. If you have the Contraptions DLC, the Recycler machine allows you to do that automatically

Huh i did not know there was a machine that did that. Now i cam throw all my ♥♥♥♥ junk i to that and get items thanks.
Your items should be under misc / junk section in your inventory where your armor weapons and aide items are located. Keep scrolling right.

The 999/2 is how much you have altogether. It's in a way easier and if you need items instead of scrapping yourself the game does for you and puts the excess components back in your workshop bench. So say you have 9 adhesive and need 10. Any adhesive materials will be scrapped, the missing piece used, and all other components added to the workshop bench or crafting statiom if you use one outside a settlement. You can access it through the R button same as the workbenches in settlements. Crafting stations outside settlements aren't linked so you'll have to go one by one getting any excess items back into your inventory.

It also counts stuff you have on your inventory so if you have like 10 empty nuka bottled you'll have 10 glass when you use a crafting or power armor station outside a settlement.

The Contraptions Workshop DLC doesn't have a recycler machine. Thats added by the Manufacturing Extended mod (which does require the Contraptions DLC) or something similiar.

If I may Suggest, just dump all of your MAterials like Wood and Glass and other "JUnk" (it is called "Junk" in the game) into the main Workshop in each Settlement. That way, it will always be available to you as you walk around crafting and building things.

If you create connections to other Workshops/Settlements via Provisioners (Assign them to it like a 'job') then whatever is in the connected Workshops is shared. For example, if you put 200 Wood into one Workshop/Settlement and 100 Wood into a connected Workshop/Settlement, then you'll have 300 Wood to use at either one available to Build with.

HTH a bit

Farm water. You'll never have to worry about getting junk again.
