I hate killing doggies Spoiler
You have to do it because they attack you it but it feels bad. Like a random encounter where you see two dead raiders and a dead scorpion, with a live dog. It would seem the dog heroically killed the scorpion but couldn't save it's masters. Then you come along and kill it. Sad.
Well it also could be that the raiders and the scorpion killed each other, then a mongrel came to see what was up, but the first explanation makes more sense.
Have you noticed that even wild mongrels play with a toy when idle?
Or when you find mongrels near to doghouses and dog paraphernalia. It would seem the dogs that lived there got ghoulified (mongrels would seem to be dog ghouls) but still is that reminder of their doggie past. Sad.

people are fundamentally evil creatures spawned from chaos and sin. dogs are in contrast the very reflection of the creators mercy hence why god is dog spelled backwards and even if evil gods exists they demand reverence hence we must also respect evil dogs

Even in real life, I would not hesitate to kill a dog which is a serous threat to myself or others. And feel totally justified in doing it. And we have two dogs which are part of our family.

But any dog which is dangerous to others which are let loose to run free, should be put down. Which is why it is illegal to let your dog run loose here where I live.

Then let it kill you and see how that works out

Obviously none of you are dog-loving people 8*}
I do kill them, but I feel mercy for the poor critters. Especially those that are not so mongrely, but look like a normal dog.
I'm especially careful for a random encounter with a wounded mongrel, she is friendly but if you shoot before asking you might kill her without knowing that, and that feels real bad.
Same thing, I never kill innocent persons in the context of the game. Never joined the raider faction.
Even raiders, sometimes I pity them, one time you find a raider mourning over another's grave. It is sad. Or when one says, "don't you die on me", when a mate dies. They felt something for each other, and I have pity of having to kill them.

lick them all and let dog sort them out

ah another cat/dog person, we all like animals but you kill people there, why do you care about dogs.
fluxtorrent Jun 3, 2021 @ 7:00pm
Because dogs are better than people obviously.

"Four legs good, two legs bad", I guess.

You don't actually have to kill them.
There's a perk that allows you to pacify and even tame them and turn them into some kind of part-time followers if that's your desire.
Never tried it, because I always needed the precious perk-points for other stuff.
But maybe that's your way closer to dog,...erm god!
;)

Kill em all and move on. They started attacking you first, that is their decision isn't it?

For some reason, this feels like it's verging into the furry community. :steammocking:

If a feral mongrel hurtles towards me with its teeth baring, I'm sure as heck not going to give it a pat on the head or a treat! Blast away!

If you're referring to the junkyard dogs running with Raiders etc, yes I'd feel bad about killing it. I mean, they're just under their master's orders.

Also interestingly I didn't know there's a "wounded dog" that you can find randomly. https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Wounded_dog
