Institute seemed to have a heavy focus on making more "synths" and tend to replace the humankind at some point, so I guess it might consider "evil race on the planet", depending on your POV.
Railroad relies on salvation of synths released from the Institute. Idk if they even decide to help people. But Minutemen relies their troops from the settlements around Boston. More settlements, more soldiers to watch and help each other out.
Brotherhood of Steel is just a bunch of guys acquiring tech to "preserve" it. I didn't get into much of a "pro and contra" of them, but you get the idea. Think of it as Fallout 3 where you only have Brotherhood of Steel to side with. I didn't get into the classics of Fallout series, sadly.
RR=stealth mission to take out the airship (boring af)
BoS=surprise attack the RR (also boring af)
Minutemen=get a castle attack in waves and defend in a massive defend the castle quest i honestly hoped was in other radiant quests but nope. Mostly just one and done. Imo having wave based settlement attacks would've been epic and badass vs a couple of goons or mutants coming after you.
All attack the institute in the same manner / mission as well only differing in how you enter (and aside from either teleporting or following around the giant ass robot it's sub par and the Liberty Prime mission in 3 was epic vs this eh). Minutemen actually go in through a pipe and it somehow makes the most sense and is the best way to do it imo.
Institute=kill the RR same as BoS (booooooring) minus taking P.A.M. with you but the BoS of having to tear through or sneak past several guards was epic as well as using LP to take out the airship. Plus some wicked white power armor paint job for the X-01 models.
In a way too the Institute or MM endings made the most sense in hindsight:
MM=clean blank slate for the commonwealth. You can also spare the RR and everyone in it or decide to just tell them to ♥♥♥♥ off and kill em anyhow. Vietnam 2.0 where a bunch of farmers take out 2 of the most powerful factions in Boston and also an underground robot "slave" sympathizers. You basically restart like the Legion in New Vegas with some old OLDER world ideals and systems but it'll eventually build up again (since Rome fell but the MM the ones irl became the first continental armies). Also people love the MM b/c they're already known and actually wanna help out the commonwealth. People start enlisting like mad in diamond city.
Basically an ending by the people for the people. You can either keep 2 of the factions or just elminate 2 / all of them and start anew. The minutemen have the leaderships and manpower but lack direction and cooperation. With you behind the wheel they can basically work with the BoS / RR or just kill them off and work with settlers directly.
Institute=also suitable. They basically control everything already just bringing them to their logical conclusion. Take out their main threats of the RR and the BoS. Get them an almost infinte or finite but plenty for years to come generator power source, and you can lead them down a brighter path. Maybe in the future like distant future they can actually just take over the commonwealth seeing as how some scientists are already sick of synths and wanna do ♥♥♥♥ with actual people (i.e. real workers).
I mean they already have "modern" 1980's - 1990's tech in a couple more years they can actually become 100% close to modern day 2021 irl. Just have to research the microchips which they sorta already have with the augmentation cybernetics they gave Kellogg. Plus the medical bed Father is in is basically a giant MRI machine or rather a compact one.
The institute is already the or one of the; no it is THE SMARTEST group since Big Mt. was just a bunch of idiots with lvl 100 science. With proper guidance the institute would've been able to 100% restart humanity if they wanted to. Though not entirely the best choice for the wastelanders overall in due time their benefits would extend After all there is no stopping them and you're the head honcho or honchette in charge.
Hell who knows maybe the Institute can gain a MM alliance too i mean you're basically the general too. Like the institute the higher ups and the MM just messengers to tell people to watch out or avoid certain areas.
RR=makes zero sense. Why destroy the only place or one of the only places synths are made? Why was there a synth in D.C. and why was the railroad all the way out there? The Raider boss in Libertaria is sorta proof that free will is dangerous for things designed to be killing machines or doing anything that needs to be done. Same with Danse. Danse is basically moved or moving up the ranks b/c he's a robot person.
Anyhow the other is they're freeing the "slave" synths when actual slaves already exist in 3, New Vegas, 1, 2, etc. you get the idea. If the RR really was about saving slaves like in 3 with that 1 girl who tells you about it then they'd help them out but nope. Just robots b/c they're so heckin cute.
The only thing they'd do well would be taking out the BoS as collateral + destroying the institute but synths would still be running amock, especially if you let them escape. Plus there is still DIMA in Far Harbor that can still be a threat since an ending is you replace all the head leaders of the children of atom and Far Harbor with synths.
BoS=possibly the THE WORST CHOICE. They got irrational fears and irrational systems working. Literally all the BoS members feel like the BoS is BS but their higher ranking officers tell them to "just follow orders" and "don't question it"!!!! Sound familiar? (basically WWII German soldiers and Chinese/USSR communists). 4 is more in line with fallout 1's BoS and 3's outcasts while 2 are more like New Vegas's. There were only 3 times the BoS was in the right or had the upper hand and even then they screwed it up. They kill the RR just b/c they sympathize with the enemy and it's really just to kidnap and reprogram P.A.M. They can give less of a ♥♥♥♥ if anyone leaves the institute alive. They also want you to strong arm local settlers to supply them with food and water to "help the cause". They only take out super mutants ghouls and raiders b/c they'd interfere with their mission not out of the goodness of their hearts. They even are ready to kill Danse when they find out he is a synth.
The BoS are probably the worst militaristic authoritarian faction / group since the Enclave / Chinese communists. They even parallel them in many ways + they enter in a similar fashion as in 3's enclave at the purifier (heavy hint to not trust or side with them). Their fear of tech while also using and hoarding tech to get rid of tech is probably the biggest oxymoron or spit in the face to many other fallout factions or groups who wanna use tech to better lives and rebirth the world from the apocalyptic hell hole that is fallout. In a sense the BoS are a 2nd Vault Tec / Zettians / China (whatever you wanna believe is cannon to what or who irradiated the earth / fired the first shot or rather bomb).
While they may make life not so living hell hole they will ♥♥♥♥ up eventually and lead the commonwealth into a 2nd civil war between them and the people once they try to take away all their tech or try to severely limit what type of tech can be made / used. They have the means and a giant ass robot that can just stomp on them without a second thought.
But in this survival level play run, I am not wiping out any faction. The vertibirds with the BOS and the teleportation with the Institute, are just too good to lose. And the ballistic weave with the Railroad, is too important to be hostile toward them early on.
I didn’t touch the game for 2 days because I can’t progress without choosing institute, bos or railroad. I want to progress only by being a member of the minutemen. I simply don’t really care about others, and I don’t want to choose or betray any other faction.
