Preston Lost My Power Armor

So, I started giving every companion of mine a power armor. I gave Preston one, then we did some missions together. It was all fine, until I found another companion. I sent Preston to Sanctuary Hills, and when I came there, he wasn't wearing any suit. I searched every piece of Sanctuary and where I left Preston for the power armor. First, I thought it probably happened because I had assigned him in a plant harvesting before. But that piece of junk lost my last armor as well when he wasn't assigned to anything. I just quick travelled to somewhere and then back Sanctuary. He lost it in 2 mins or so. Do they constantly get out of the armor? My primary question is, where is the first power armor that Preston left, and how can I find it?

Did you check at the location where you saw Preston last in the power armor?

It only shows one of my armors. The lost one wasn't shown. However, I did find it after 2 hours of searching. Apparently, I didn't really expect to find it here when I checked every piece of Sanctuary. I checked gardens, inside houses, the roads, the bridges, even inside the river. It only shows player used power armor and then only the last one that was exited.

I'm surprised you found it, it happened to me once and i couldn't find it. Didn't search seriously, thought it was a bug.

So they actually leave it somewhere. good to know.

Preston's so stupid he probably tried to "Kool Aid" through the wall, gave up, and then just ditched it.

The sorry SOB real soldier wannabe probably stopped off in Diamond City and sold it. Then tied one on at one of the local taverns in the slums near to Diamond City and then ended the day/night with one of the commercial wenches in the area.

Every AI is so stupid, unfortunately. They get stuck by the walls or can't even come inside my base because they can't step inside the door for some reason.

I randomly learned why did this happen. In sanctuary, settlers (including your companions) interact with that building and do a fixing animation (like hammering a nail). Sometimes, they do it in the exact spot where I found my power armor. Preston probably had to get off of the power armor in order to do that animation.
It is really sad that AI is terrible in this game.
