Can Fallout 4 Play MP3 files?

The reason why I am asking is, .wav files are simply to large, and I'm looking to either use .mp3's or .ogg files instead.

I think .ogg files can work, but not mp3.

I know the base game uses xwm files which is a proprietary file bethesda made. They end up being pretty small depending on settings.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/71749 that will work to convert to that file type if you want to try it.

Why not run your MP3 player minimized with hotkeys ? More control and less system demanding.

I rather have it play through the pipboy. I am creating a series of audio books which you come across in fallout via cassettes which I will be turning into an addon others can use as well.

Doing it through VLC just won't work for me, and I can't share it on Nexus. It also kills the immersion.

I don't know if you are interested but I have started uploading holotapes with art bell. I decided to work on the audio books at a later time.

I say that, cause of the script within F4. It's familiar with these files. It's the other types which take up more time and memory. Atleast on my rig.
