Why Fallout Games Always In US?
Why are the Fallout games always in the US? what would the game be like in another
country? would people be interested or would it spoil the game?
The game would have to have new factions, reason why the company wont change?
but they would still have mutants ect still.

Could have MM or faction like MM.
Would be great if MS did spin of in another country? or allowed another
company to do the spin of for MS? and still have Fallout 5 in the US.

Most of the people who buy the games live in the United States.

I would be, and I'm damn sure I'm not alone on it

Because it would not be a Fallout game any more if it is anywhere else. Can’t use lore, can’t reference events or NPC from the previous games, can’t even have vaults because they were designed by Vault Tec specifically to “protect” Americans.

It would be a totally different game, in other words — Failout.

Canada would work with the existing lore. It was annexed by the US and the city of Toronto (Ronto) has been mentioned in game.
Northern Mexico might work, Raul originally came from around Mexico City. Problem being there is no reason for Vault-tec to exist south of the boarder.
Europe wouldn't work at this time well. Zero ties to any of the lore at all. There needs to be some sort of establishing of what was happening there prior to the nukes flying for the setting to be useful.

there is a bit of lore

here's the basics

The European Commonwealth which we can take to be fallouts version of the EU is economically crippled due to the rising prices of oil and other resources. This leads to a series of wars between Europe and the middle east for control ove the few remaining resources farther depleting the dwindling stockpiles of raw material this escalates to a limited nuclear exchange between the middle east and Europe scaring the isolationist Americans and causing project safe house to be approved.

the oil reserves run dry the European Commonwealth having no reason to stay and fight over a resource dpleated nuclear wastland pulls back its troops. at the same time resource scarcity and damage from the nuclear exchange back in Europe causes the European Commonwealth to fracture with various nations attacking each other eventually colapseing into bickering city states as civiliation falls apart.

the planned resource war game would have had you control the british marine squad as the fought there way back from the middle east through the civil war in eroupe and than back to England.

the war between china and the USA started at the tail end of the wars over the middle eastern oilfield after the reserves were depleted and both the EC and middle east were actively collapsing so by the time the Great war's nuclear exchange happened Europe and the middle east would have already been post apocalyptic hell holes for a few years.
it's a critique of capitalism but also communism. It's an alt universe where the USA and China became the super powers of the world (granted this was long before the modern day fallout 1 was made back when graphics would be on a flash drive instead of a cd rom).

Several ♥♥♥♥♥ never happened including the microchip inventor dying in fallout (From a car crash or something idr) and so they kept using those bulky vaccume tubes and hardware. No hippy movement, no cold war if i remember correctly, and no Vietnam war.

Story takes place in the USA b/c the USA in fallout was the most advanced country in the world at the time. Thus all the high tech and ♥♥♥♥ stays in America.

I think i remember reading or hearing Todd Howard say he would like to explore other options / countries. I think they made or were making a fallout shelter for chinese release only. Idk if it takes place in china or the USA and if it was ever fully released or not.

Cause Fallout games and their plot are US centered .. duh.

It's about dystopian USA and big bad Chinese and aftermath of a global nuclear war between those two countries while other countries are just secondary mentions.

Think of it as a US propaganda parody taken to the extreme.

because australia is already a wasteland with giant monsters eating people, but i want to see some ghouls surfing.

Vault Tech is an American company. They TRIED to get licensed in other countries but the other nations refused.

Too bad for them.

It has to do with the majority of CUSTOMERS these game companies make profit from. If you're from a country with less than 1000 gamers, STOP WHINING.
darinbob Feb 25, 2021 @ 6:17pm
Because the game developers are all American, and that's the country they know best. The devs actually took road trips into DC and Boston to do research on the feel of the places (well, Bethesda is in DC suburbs so that road trip was kinda short).

But a Euro based game would be interesting, the architecture is so very different. Munich would be interesting, plus being next to the alps would be a bonus to geography.

In Fallout 1, the locations weren't that important. I knew a some of the locations because I grew up there, but for most people the only recognizable place was LA which was just a big hole in the ground. So the location was not a major character in the game back then, it was just a generic location.
Sevrojin Feb 25, 2021 @ 10:26pm
Basically what i read here is CUZ MURICA and this is a pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ argument and limits the potential of the series.

Fallout could really use a change of scenery and the best locations for it would be : China, Russia, Canada, and Europe.

or hell they dont need to make it fully in a different country perhaps set one on the america / mexico boarder or one on the canada / america border

But alas MUH MURICA wins and fallout can never truly grow so it will remain a "american post apocalyptic game" and not a "post apocalyptic game"
