Simple raider build viable on normal?
I'm considering the following build on normal mode.
Can anyone confirm if it will be viable or leave me stuck?

9 str

9 end

6 agi

All melee perks in strength plus melee and armour crafting

Hp perks in end and anti addiction

Ap and sprint perks in agi

Not sure on the rest

on normal-very hard, any build is fine. A non-combat build is perfectly fine in the game for a vet player (which i play every time now) because when you know what your doing, even on very hard mode combat is super easy, especially with the right legendary weapons. You don't even need perks or skills in any type of weapons to survive very easy on very hard mode.

Want to know how to really not ever get killed? Max endurance for max health, and max out the healing perks (stimpacks) for 100% healing with a stimpack. With high health and 100% healing every time, whats going to kill you lol. My non-combat builds can wander into a group of a dozen super mutant warlords and not worry about dying.. ..yawn... shoot shoot.. oh im pretty low on health..stimpack.. back up to 100%..

No sweat. You'll be fine, especially on normal mode.

So as to your build. ALL builds you want to start with 10 intelligence, at sanctuary use booze to temp drop it, use the skill book to raise intelligence to 10 (so you'll have 11 when booze wears off). Max intelligence will give you the most experience as you adventure, to level up faster, and thus letting you level up stats and such faster also. Always max out intelligence on anyone you make. The faster you level up, the more you can pump up stats, perks, etc.

Make sure you have enough perception for lockpicking, since there are level 1 and 2 locks in sanctuary, also hacking, early in the game even before your out of the NW/N section of the map you'll run into master locks and terminals, so you'll want 3 points into both lockpick and hacking asap. Gun nut 1 for heavy turrets in settlements.

Strength (for damage/rooted), endurance (health), and agility (blitz) are your main 3 stats to work on after your already max intelligence. You'll level up a bunch in sanctuary if you want to mess around with exp crafting some.

start with 4 perception for lockpicking, 10 intelligence for max experience gain and faster leveling. Some pick idiot savant for even faster leveling but i always suggest ignoring that broken perk. Then i would spread out the rest on strength/endurance/agility those 3 you want to max out asap.

Then go out and play and have fun. Early on i would allocate 2 stat raises for each perk, or at the minimum 1 every other level. I personally always go 2 stat raises, 1 perk, 2 stat raises, 1 perk. You'll need strength and agility very high to pick up the must have rooted/blitz perks for melee/unarmed characters. Level 9 i think in both.

So thats my idea. starting 4 perception, 10 intelligence. Spread the rest out. Go to sanctuary learn the ropes, craft, level up some. Get your intelligence to 11 after drinking booze and then using the stat book in the house. Then, get the perks you want and get your strength and agility up asap to get your needed blitz/rooted, and throw in some endurance once in a while, you'll want to get all 3 of those to 10 before messing with other stuff. Charisma and luck last

since i havent played in a while and havent did a melee/unarmed build for a very long time, i went and played around with a new build. very hard mode just getting familiar with it. 10 intelligence, 4 perception for lockpick. Got some melee perks, got strength to 10 asap and rooted. Fell behind in lockpicking/hacking didn't keep it to max asap and ran into locks i couldn't do in concord, but not a huge deal.

Whipped out a duo upgraded combat knife for building criticals and a upgraded sledge hammer for those big hits. Seemed to work according to plan. Next goal is to work on getting agility maxed and get blitz, plus get some more melee perks/blacksmith, etc
