Securing Galactic Zone impossible - Nukaworld DLC
Someone explain this ♥♥♥♥ to me...

I have 34/35 star cores...
1 is in the Galactic Zone according to the mainframe hint.

This last one according to walkthroughs is in the Starcafe above the mainframe in an elevator that needs power. So I can only get it if the power is back on - which requires 35/35 cores to boot the mainframe.

The ♥♥♥♥ ???

Also I can't disable "defensive mode" as there is a "protocol error". Thus I cannot complete "Grand Tour" quest. Time to uninstall?

No, all the Starcores are in the buildings or on the grounds. You just have to locate them all. There are a couple more cores that you can find that bring the total to more than the required amount to get the mainframe going. They are there. Some are just very tricky to find.

The final core is on the roof, 2 ways to get it. 1 complete the quest Power Play so that you can use the elevator on the second floor, or 2 use power armor with a jetpack to fly to the roof.

Turning the power on does not require the mainframe, only the power plant to the North West.

Locating all cores is not required to complete Grand Tour or to disable the defensive mode.
Locating all cores is only required to get the Power Armor.

Furthermore not all Cores are in or near Galaxy Zone grounds
There are 5 scattered all over the place : Nuka Town , Nuka Cade , Junkyard , Dry Rock , World of Refreshments.

Also one core is inaccessible unless you restore the power to Nuka World.

This looks more like some sort of glitch or overlook on OP's part.

No, one is legit up at the top of that elavator. To get it you need to restore power to the park by going to the power plant either by completing the associated quest if you're doing the raider quest line or just by flipping the switch. The plant is on the eastern(left hand in your pip boy map) side of the nuka world.

There is a core that will respawn. Originally, I could only find 34. I don't use power armour, so I couldn't get that last one you mentioned. I went away and did other things then went back and retraced my steps to make sure that I had not missed one. I found one that I thought I had missed originally, but found out later that one respawns. Can't remember the location, and I don't know if it was intentional, or a glitch.

Doesn't change the fact that only 20 Star cores are required to complete Grand Tour and disable the defensive mode.

Why are people missing this fact something is off at OP's end cause he still somehow can't complete Grand Tour or disable defensive mode despite having 34 cores where only 20 are required to do so. 35 cores are just for the power armor and last one is only accessible after you complete Nuka World main story (restore power)

Just for the record, I couldn't turn off Defensive mode until I got all 35 cores, either. So I guess I had the same glitch?

Yea its most likely a glitch of some sort. It wouldn't surprise me.
Tho i personally i didn't run into it. Always 20 cores worked to complete Grand Tour (i don't use Unofficial Patch)

I also recall that it does. Thats one of the listed and more known "bugs".

I've just checked the bug spawns Junkyard and Abernathy Farm, my luck, there are none. The mainframe has a 0 erverywhere except Galactic Zone which is aforementioned Starnuka-Cafe elevator. I will fetch a Powerarmor and try it with a Jet mod.
bpbrother 31 ENE 2021 a las 13:29
Can't reach last platform with Jet, AP drains way too fast. :(
bpbrother 31 ENE 2021 a las 14:27
Tried with some Max AP items and Jet Fuel and "Burst Style". Turns out, there is an invisible ceiling. Googling: They fixed it and you can no longer Jet to it.
The Junkyard core seems to only respawn if you picked it up before the UFO questline which I'm sure I haven't done.
So I guess I can really uninstall now. Can't even use console as I'm on survival mode.

Disable survival mode, spawn in the core, then unlock survival mode with:

cgf "Game.IncrementStat" "Survival Denied" -1

Then turn it back on.

just need to turn on the power plant with power play

either

take over 8 settlements in the commonwealth and nuka world (the 4 other nuka world areas)
or
kill a raider and start the open season quest / talk with one of the store vendors inside the marketplace in nuka world or Preston.

As others have said you can also just use a jetpack on another suit of power armor to get it.

~tcl to just phase through and get it

and theres a bug where either in the abernathy farm (the farm near where you start where you gotta recover the pendant in the commonwealth) usually spawns 1 core
OR
the junkyard will respawn the same star core on the 2nd floor.
